He isnt ronaldo, but hes a decent championship striker, and as well as that, is a talisman, someone for the fans to get behind and know he will give his best for the cause. Unlike wells Out of interest, Fam and Nahki have started 1 Champ game together this season....the first one v Coventry. Apart from that opening 56 minutes, they’ve spent just 124 mins on the pitch together this season. 180 in total....2 games worth. Whilst on the pitch together those 180 minutes have yielded 4 goals for the team (1 for Wells and 2 for Diedhiou).

I do wonder how fam would fair playing alongside martin, i reckon playing alongside a striker who can feed him chances and share the physical work would really help fam. Posted on another thread (I think) about exactly that. If Fam’s groin is ok on Tuesday, I’d start him and Martin.
WolfOfWestStreet
Like Brentford, we've made huge amounts of money on player sales but we've bought really poorly. Apart from the goalie we have nobody you could call top 5 in their position in the division, in my opinion that's shocking. I mean what did we spend the 20 milion Webster money on? Here’s what we spent it on: £24.150m (based on taking fees from various sources) Lets not forget that Webster was less than £20m after we paid Ipswich their sell-on fee. Thanks for sharing, actually quite a damn lot then . Certainly an argumen for quality over quantity. I guess we were hoping a few of those would turn out to be great Palmer, Massengo, Wells but they just haven't worked as of yet.

Yep....and apart from Bentley and possibly Kalas nobody is gonna get you £5m+, not in today’s market. We have a big financial hole to fill. Brownhill’s sale probably helped overall, but in the next two sets of accounts (this season and next) we really need someone to kick-on to give us some value. Redtrojan
Also a few years earlier we sold Kodja for a good profit and of course Bryan and Reid also increased the coffers significantly. We really haven’t spent our considerable incoming transfer fees well .

I'm sure you are right Dave. Looking at your list above, who do we have in the squad that was funded by the LK income though? It's not just about one year's sales, we have had good money coming in over a few years now but we don't seem to have much value left in what we've spent it on. Yep, my spreadsheet was constructed differently back then....but from a fans point if view you can effectively say Kelly’s £13m and Webster’s £17.5m (let’s say Ipswich got £2.5m sell on) funded last season’s transfers and loans, with undoubtedly a huge hike in wages too. 18/19s accounts included Kelly but from a fans view was really Bryan, Flint and Reid. They funded: whilst also trying to cover a £25m loss from 17/18.

What Dave said, also consider the Operating losses before Transfer activity etc. You mentioned Brentford in another post I think? Took a quick look at their accounts the other day. Profit on Disposal of Player Registrations: 2018-19- £27,201,973 2017/18- £14,068,555 2016/17- £12,773,567 2015/16- £15,443,985 They're old hands at this- very good! This doesn't even include Maupay, Benrahma or Watkins which will be accounted for in 2019/20 and 2020/21 accounts respectively! Think recruitment hit and miss really- middling, albeit moving forward big fees received to reinvest, this will be a lot less commonplace. Individually, I think a case can be made for a reasonable number of the players. On an individual basis.
