Red Army 75
Defensively in the two games he’s been back has made a huge difference. Also bringing out the best in Kalas . These two staying fit will make a huge difference to our aspirations

What a performance given the time out he’s had.
BCFCGav
He can make all the difference. Kalas is always solid, we need someone next to him whose the same. Great today.
Finley_Smith10
He’s the difference, Kalas and Mawson are class together. Hopefully their form stays this way

sh1t_ref_again
Masson talks and controls others around him, at the start of the season we were defending well with vyner and taylor but as soon as Masson got injured it started to go wrong

Magicdaps
The bloke is a Rolls Royce. One with a slightly suspect service history but that's the reason he's playing for us and not in the Prem. Makes such a difference to us, as well as those around him. Class act. B1ackbird
Is it starting to look like the Kalas/Webster combo?
Mr Popodopolous
Strong in a pair with Kalas. Strong in a 3 with Kalas and AN Other- Vyner? Whether that's first or 2nd choice, that's a different debate. Gives us a nice other line of attack with long range passing.
Guest
Incredible today. The highlight was him constantly clattering Johnson over... and getting away with it

Let’s hope so because Mawson, like Webster is of that quality. If he could stay fit he wouldn’t be anywhere near this level.

I think his availability will depend on whether Fulham stay up. That said, he could well still be too expensive for us. If he stays fit and keeps playing well there will be a lot of interest in him. Davefevs
Think that challenge on Johnson after 6 minutes set the tone for a much better physical / competing performance. Johnson didn’t like it and had a quiet game. He gets in the striker’s shorts (bit like Bailey Wright did, albeit different class) and gives them a tough afternoon. Things for both Moore and Vyner to learn. Class, class, class.

He made a big impact to the start of the season. Not just defensively but tempo. Can’t underestimate how much confidence him & kalas must give to the rest of the side , especially midfield

Any thoughts he might have had about playing deeper to get space, went straight out the window.
stephenkibby.
Just had a look on the Preston match day thread got to half time. One bloke reckons Mawson looks slow and dodgy. Is that northern for oozes class?

If you’re good positionally, good at reading the game, have a bloke with a bit of pace alongside you, you can play a much higher line. In my preview i mentioned how PNE turn the ball around the corner for Maguire to run onto. We kept a high line, a disciplined line and caught Maguire out 3 times early on. That meant they could get a foothold on the game, couldn’t get up the pitch. We did to Preston, what other teams do to us. They weren’t especially poor, we were just good in that opening 25-30 mins.
