Poised like a coiled spring for a Top 6 finish?

The parachute payments give the relegated teams a massive advantage with what they can pay players. If the can keep most of the players after coming down they should be able to get a top 6 place. Plus add the best players from other teams.

The other key factor is team spirit if they are all pulling in the same direction if they have this as well then the upper end of the top 6 should be achieved.

Mawson’s return seems to have made an immediate difference and although it might only have been for the first half hour, KP made an immediate impact. Viner’s move into midfield looks to be inspired , Nagy seems back to his best and HNM’s cameo promises more than we’d have thought earlier in the season.

It might be that one or more of these players might not continue in the same vein, but we have other players still to comeback from injury so it is not unreasonable to think that they to will make a difference over the rest of the season.

This is not clutching at straws, but how often have we heard that success in this division is all about small margins, and these might be the small margin gains we need.

Mawson seems to be key.

For me, we've struggled, I'd say, all season to be consistent. Either over 90 minutes or in a run of 6, 10, 12 games.

If we can just find some consistency, get a run going and add a few more returning players, absolutely we have a chance of being around 6th...

BUT....Half way through the season now and if people want to discuss play-offs, you have to talk about our results against those teams so far:

City vs top 6:

0 W - 2 D - 3 L (Yet to play Brentford) = 2 from 15

City vs top 8:

1 W - 2 D - 4 L = 5 from 21.

Yes we may be in or around 6th to 8th if we can up our game but we going to have to learn how to beat top teams, because we haven't yet!
