Non league season over soon?

Clubs basically lied to being told financial aid would be grants whereas its going to be loans, clubs can't afford to pay back the loans so more than likely instead will vote to scrap the season and furlough players/staff at a higher cost to the govt then just providing the assistance they required.

Surely there needs to be some creative thinking about how to get the non-league season finished.

Play half the season and promote/relegate from there. Create a World Cup style group and knockout competition. Something.

Scrapping a second season in a row is very unfair on those clubs who have been making the running two seasons going. And surely the clubs would be appreciative of income from some competitive games in the spring?

Barrow/Harrogate were promoted last season, but that was because of how many games had been played that ppg was fairer and allowed play offs to take place. Clubs literally won't be able to pay players soon so not sure how you even play another 5 (in some cases 8 ) games to ensure everyone plays 22. Would suck for Torquay, clear at the top.

I think it had been hoped that the current lockdown will end sooner rather than later, or at least give some indication that there would be a reasonable period of time in the future that would allow clubs and leagues to finish this season. Quite how that is going to work now is open to debate, but with last season being binned is it not going to be such a wrench to repeat this time around? After all, we have barely passed the half-way point, not the Spring as last time. Results are less valid.

Naturally, clubs at all levels are in dire financial recession and the real propsect of closure growing ever nearer for some. This 'clarification' will stiffen the mood. Losses must be cut.

Appreciate there were promotions from the NL, but not further down the ladder.

The season should be suspended until the late spring/early summer at which points fans should be allowed back in, generating a revenue.

North and south also had promotion being the lowest level classed as elite. How do you play through the summer before the next season though?
