Genuine question,  why don't we go to the byline and then cross any more? We get so far and then head back into the middle where all the opposition are!

Because getting to the byline is a bit Mick Channon/1980s. It's what you'd expect to find at the Mem, or on the Downs. And as @spudski will confirm, there are stats that suggest it's a waste of time.

Mind, why there's no stats to show that getting so far then stopping and heading back in to a congested middle is also largely fruitless, I cannot say.

Keeping possession is very fashionable at this level; getting to the byline and knocking it to the back stick is a bit cringe, and beneath us.

Or leave it for the officials to manage.

Not really worth a booking or maybe worse. What is the rush anyway, we'll take a week finding someone to throw in to.

Which would be great if they ever did deal with it. Unfortunately most of the time a large proportion of matches are taken up by time wasting. Referee’s are conned by it over and over again.
