Do you have posters of him on your bedroom wall? Proper man love

No I don’t Tony x3 - but for ages I’ve just wanted our club to appoint a proven, successful manager at this level - and they’ve given us the likes of Millen, McInnes, O’Driscoll, LJ, Holden .... aside from your childish response, surely you want us to build on this amazing platform we’ve now established and move onwards and upwards? Although, having said that, you probably don’t want that, so many people on here scared of us getting a proper manager who can elevate us - and I don’t really know why ... probably something to do with Bristolians being ‘reserved’ - I don’t buy that either by the way ...

I suspect you may have misunderstood the purpose of the ‘multiple post’ function ?

Small point, though not a top manager as you state, O'Driscoll walked in as a fairly solid and respectable manager.

Left as a joke, never recovered. In the circs at the time, bottom of the Championship leaking a lot of goals, having to cut costs. Safe pair of hands and yet....

Did a bit of quick Googling as well and Howe described O'Driscoll as one of his role models ahead of a game v Bournemouth.

We were a shambles in the early 2010s.

We were a shambles, you’re absolutely right - perhaps I was a bit harsh including O’Driscoll in that list - he put lots of stuff in place in the background during his time at City and we are reaping the benefits of that diligence now. Also, when he left us, his next job was Assistant Manager at Liverpool, so they obviously saw something in him .... then he was manager of one of the England age-group teams, so again, obviously well thought of by some influential people ...

I think you’re right about Laycock... and then Lansdown buying him out.

Wonder whether the likes of Laycock or Davidson still watch/follow the club?

We were much more a club than business then... same for all clubs I’m sure.

Are you sure about that?  I know a bit about what went on when Scott and particularly John Laycock were in the Chair, and let’s just say that I was very pleased when Steve Lansdown bought them out....
