Light at the end of the tunnel?

Now let's go over the top here because this was a poor Millwall side but did we see the green shoots of a decent team beginning to show itself?

Still a long way to go but surely there were some signs today that we can actually play the game properly.

There were some good performances today which should give us a small dose of hope and something to build on.

Saying that, we'll probably be dire v Huddersfield midweek.

Millwall were indeed piss poor and  you can only beat what’s in front of you - but it was a real joy to City put three past Championship rivals on their own patch. That said the ‘wall did some decent opportunities that chances that led to line clearance and top saves - against better teams City won’t get away with giving up so many chances.

I was impressed with Palmer who had a cracking game  but I do wish he’d play his passes just a bit quicker.  Two or three times he delayed just a split second and got caught.

The front three also impressed me. They linked really well albeit against poor opposition and surely Deano will have tough selections call for Tuesday against Huddersfield

What a huge difference the quality of the opposition makes - highlighted by City barely managing a shot at Carrow Rd and yet put three past Millwall at the Den............:dunno:

If we'd lost then there'd already be a dozen new threads denouncing all involved as shit and needing sacking/selling immediately so I fail to see the issue in giving a bit of praise.

People are allowed to be positive occasionally. Some of you ought to try it some time, as much as you find it an alien concept.

I loved that formation. I think it was more of a 4-2-2-2 with Semenyo and Palmer as 2 wide forwards with Bakinson and Vyner, the later of which was excellent, as the 2 holding midfielders. I felt this was the first match in a long time where we had a bit of identity and a bit of pace and guile about our play and it was an enjoyable watch. Same again midweek please!

Tbh I thought we were very poor in the first half, our passing was particularly woeful and we made Millwall look good.

Its the FA cup FFS anybody can beat anybody, at least 4 league wins by end of Feb required imo and there maybe a tiny shaft of light; more likely to be a win and a few draws, unless of course we have turned a corner  wont be betting on it though.

It's only (something like) the 7th time this far in the FA Cup in 40 years. And 13 5th round appearances since WW2, or in about 75 attempts. And we have only won one of those 5th round ties in 75 years, so this is a great chance to do something unusual and exciting (even if the FA Cup is not what it was*) so "rejoice!" you miserable ****ers, to paraphrase Lady Thatcher (1982).

I love city winning.

I’m gutted I wasn’t there today. I love the cup and think it would be a great day out, scoring 3 at Millwall, trying to lose the escort at London Bridge then getting smashed in London.

What a day out today could’ve been.
