It wasn’t dissimilar to Norwich in many respects.  Is it an issue with 442?  Partially, but only because we don’t put enough intent into closing the passer, marking or at least shutting passing lanes.  I would imagine both Huddersfield and Norwich couldn’t believe their training ground patterns were so easily executed.  The 442 does leave passing lanes more open from a birds-eye view look at the pitch, but we are masters of our own destiny in terms of shape without the ball.  Lots to work on.

Could it partly be a personnel issue and even communication?

Semenyo being a younger player without an academy background being less sure who to pick up, does he need guiding more on who he tracks and when?

Vyner being primarily a defender being moved into midfield, has played there before but not his most familiar position, more inclined to make a mistake (while also allowing for the fact that all players will make mistakes no matter where they are played).

In short....yes....very likely to be one of the causes.

The other is they spent all pre-season drilling 352, then went to 433, now 442, so probably lots of “without the ball” work to do, but little time to do because of fixture list.
