I pointed it out as well. For Ashton to go on radio and claim Afobe did his recovery here, when his Instagram account showed regular posts of him doing his rehab with Lewin (see below), just shows the type of bullshitter Ashton is. And speaking on Afobe, let’s not forget we had an awful run of injuries last year as well. It isn’t fixture congestion that’s causing us injuries this year. I think it’s a combination of Holden pushing the players too hard in a bid for us “to be the fittest team in the league” and Andy Rolls, IMO. I doubt many clubs would’ve touched him after his stints at Arsenal and West Ham, and we’ve got Ashton to ‘thank’ for bringing him here.

This is the one big thing I am pissed off about more than any performance or tactics or bad signing or whatever. Because if we don't get as many injuries then everything would be so much better with so many key players available. I really do think Holden would still be here if so many had not had long term injuries. I'm sure a lot of the injuries are very different and happened very differently. But it looks like they are more susceptible to picking up bad injuries than players of other clubs. Do you know what my biggest worry is? That they’ve somehow done long term damage to certain muscles / muscle groups. If “our Cal” () or “Sess” or Pring, or Baker or Walsh also get setbacks when coming back, then I think conspiracy theories go out the window. I’ve said it before, but I worry that whatever they’ve done has damaged the players ability to sense a problem, and / or sports sciences ability to spot it too. If we take Williams, and initially it’s “fatigued”, is that sports science unable to to pick up the full extent? That’s a huge worry if so, because it means you can’t trust the sports science data....and you might be pushing players without knowing the damage. Now, I’m not blaming individuals because I don’t know key roles and responsibilities, but as a collective it’s looking very suspect indeed. This is why you MUST have an independent inquiry. Midlands Robin
Rolls was at Arsenal from 2014 until he was made redundant in 2018. He wasn't the Head of Medicine at Arsenal but one of three Physios. Prior to joining Arsenal he was head of Medicine at West Ham who he joined from Watford in 2009 where he'd held a similar position. There are news reports of horrendous injury records at West Ham during his time there. There isn't too much info on his time at Watford other than an article stating he'd moved to the Hammers. Both Rolls and Andrew Proctor, who joined as head of Physio at the same time as Rolls in 2018, worked with Mark Ashton at Watford and Oxford respectively. More jobs for the boys. Re Proctor, think someone on here said they went to school with him, he studied at UWE....but when you’re appointed at Oxford in July 2014, towards the end of the same month that Ashton joined Oxford, there will be a sense of conspiracy theory, especially when turning up here too. It’s outrageous isn’t it Ashtons vigorous recruitment and processes don’t actually exist do they In fact it’s a blatant lie We can speculate whose decision it was to appoint Holden But Steve Lansdown didn’t appoint Aston’s mates or relations across every part of the Club did he

He really didn't have to, but he obviously understands his frustration and disappointment is shared by the supporters. There's a number of City players I have no time for whatsoever at the moment, but I like this one. Really looking forward to seeing Joe play regularly; when that happens I reckon he has the character to be the driving force of a far more competitive City team next season. All being well, and fingers firmly crossed for him, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the new manager giving him the Captain's armband next season. MarcusX
1 hour ago, JonDolman said: Yeah I didn't mention Rolls but I'm aware there is history with Arsenal and West Ham injuries. Seems like the obvious thing would be to get rid of him and see if there's some improvement. I'd like to look at how many were injured back at his previous clubs. I remember years ago thinking Arsenal surely need to do something about the amount of long term injuries they have been getting for some time. Not sure if that was when Rolls was there. I can't remember all of them but Ramsey, Wilshire, Diaby, Cazorla, Debuchy, Welbeck suffered really long term injuries around the same time I think. Oxlaide Chamberlain seemed injured a lot too. Actually I expect a lot others were. They were well known for having terrible injuries. Wilshere and Diaby could have been top top elite players. Both so much talent and it was only those bad injuries that stopped them I think. And Cazorla was a superb player. If Rolls was a cause of this then he's ruined some proper talented players careers! But happy to be corrected on that. Might have been a different time to Rolls. He was at West Ham when Carroll had his injury problems, along with others ”injury cursed West Ham” https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/football/2014/jan/15/arsenal-head-sport-science-west-ham In his defence he went to Arsenal whilst they were having issues, but those issues didn’t go away. In 2017 they were the most injured team in the previous 5 seasons https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.mirror.co.uk/sport/row-zed/arsenal-most-injured-premier-league-10123807.amp theres too much smoke there for it to be coincidental, surely?
