Agree its just meaningless platitudes, he may as well just have just walked in and said "we go again" and then left. Johnson chatted a lot of bollocks but at least he tried in his way to tactically dissect the performances, box entries etc etc.

I have never once heard anything other than variations of work hard.

I can imagine his team talks are just do what you are doing but do it better, no direction just be a bit better.

You know, when LJ was in charge I went to the Tampa training session in pre-season. LJ took the first 2 hours, working on drills, mini-games etc. Then, in LJ's words (paraphrased) he "handed them over to Deano who will knacker them out for the final 45 minutes". Deano basically made them play a 40-45 minute small-pitch 11-a-side game of two-touch and shoot. Hard work, but not exactly refining a squad into an effective football team.

Now obviously as assistant we wouldn't expect Holden to take the entire training session at that time, but the impression was certainly that he was LJ's Rottweiler, and specialised in barking at a group of tired blokes to properly finish them off.

@Davefevs goes to your "great tub-thumping speech...now what's the gameplan" point as well.

I really want him to succeed, but I haven’t heard one tactical or analytical reason for any loss this season so far. Just really excited for the next game, don’t want to dwell on the last etc. If anything LJ went on about that stuff too much. But now we don’t hear any reason as to why we’ve lost games it feels like

I’ve noticed this for a few weeks now too. It’s all cliched man-management text book speak.

Easy to say, much harder to implement: the team stuttering from one awful performance to another showing that.

Never any sense that Holden knows what our issues are, the cause of them and what they’re working on to improve on them.

We don’t need detailed tactical analysis, but there’s no sense of it in his interviews, all just sound bites now.

SL talks about injuries....but it’s not an excuse.

Sorry Dave, can you clarify, SL is on radio Bristol for an interview, sound of the city?  But it’s not Geoff, it’s someone else? Any idea for reason of that?

EDIT - don’t worry, just tuned in.

With justification too.

Agreed, I don't like him as a footballer and I'm not sure he's the solution. But he's certainly been in and out more than the hokey-cokey, and been played out of position. It might not be professional to moan and mope, but he'd have a case.

That's one for Dave Barton to explain.

The Chairman should be talking through the process for appointing qualified replacements.

Agree with you, but some will point out that our coaches have badges. Impressive badges; lots of them; and they England connections, don't you know?

As for other qualifications, Mark Ashton probably has an MBA (and he's very highly regarded nationwide).

Wouldn't be surprised if Jon has an O Level or two.

Hadwin challenging that Academy have done well (Vyner, Semenyo), but recruitment externally not as good.

SL talks about Wells, Martin (mentioned Kalas and Dasilva).

Now onto MA....gets a lot of stick from fans....protecting our position at EFL.  He’s an easy target, works hard, deserves praise.  We all need to look at our performance.

None of us is proud of where we are at the moment.

Yes, SL on SOTC....Ed Hadwin doing very well with the interview.

I listened briefly - long enough to hear SL suggest that 'hindsight is a wonderful thing'...which bodes ill I'm afraid. Holden is going nowhere in the short term. Lansdown can't abide being proved wrong - which is unfortunate as he almost invariably is when it comes to managerial appointments.

'People will have their opinions' he said, yes indeed...we will!

“Improvement on last year” hopes for this season.

Need to stay in this division.

Got to get 4 or 5 wins, then finish as high as possible.

Push ourselves back into top hakf.

13th, 12th last season, got to work harder, back on track.

Sorry, got to have my tea. ???

Just about to talk finances.

SL is pretty arrogant I’ve come to realise. Cuts his nose of to spite his face on a regular basis when his pathetic managerial appointments go belly up. Needs to be more ruthless but hasn’t got it in him when it comes to football managers.

Well that's really addressed all my concerns and worries. </sarcasm>

An absolute car-crash that to be honest, I could have stood up there and come out with meaningless flannel like that.

We've been sleepwalking towards relegation for a couple of months, Saturday should have been a huge wake-up call but we blunder on, looking at ourselves in the mirror and working hard.

I was at least hoping to hear some sort of plan to address the left-back situation if nothing else. Surely we should be looking at free-agents? That's something Warnock has always done well, particularly when he took over Rotherham.

Talking about losing a lot of money this year. Lost £10m last and will lose more this year.

Suggests we may have to sell players in the summer by saying we’ll see where we are in the summer recruitment wise

Talking about getting our pride back. “Losing to Cardiff bad enough, being stuffed atWatford, terrible”

DH and SL "Have had a heart to heart discussion and DH knows what needs to happen"

Makes me wonder if he's been told he needs X amount of points from X amount of games or he's a goner

Honestly, I'd be really disappointed if it was a simple as an "X amount of points from Y number of games". That's such a simplistic requirement, and could be easily achieved by some dodgy refereeing decisions, or crazy deflections. It could likewise be prevented by the same rogue elements of the game. It would be symptomatic of a narrow-minded "only stat that matters is the scoreline" view, and I'd hate to think that our Chairman (and presumably CEO as well) are so blinkered.

I'd much rather they sat him down and said something like "Look, we need points, and we need wins, but honestly, so long as we're out of the relegation zone you just need to get us attacking, taking shots, reducing the number of saves Bentley has to make. Get us organised, get us planned, get us playing. If that gets us X points in Y games then great, but if it only gets us Z points then that's ok." I understand that I may be considered to be unrealistic in this hope, possibly now is the time to reduce it to "just get us 3 wins in the next 6 or you're out", but to my mind what I describe is the long-term solution, and anything simpler would be a sticking-plaster over a bullet wound.

Thanks, but being abroad I actually can't listen. Honestly I've tried but right now VPN isn't playing ball.

In my limited experience chatting with him I wouldn't say that he was arrogant...

...simply that he has all the self-doubt of a self- made billionaire!
