Plays good football

track record

can fit our structure (that’s the nub of it).

Personally Jokanovic but I doubt it’ll happen.

In fairness Appleton (and Moore, as mentioned by the poster who first said DH had gone - no idea if true) have both had v good seasons, so I don’t think either are quite the ‘sigh’ they were previously.

Mick McCarthy

On a six month contract at Cardiff

Tap him up NOW with promise of time and backing

If possible I’d take this.

I’m struggling to get over the frustration that we should’ve appointed from outside of the club in the summer. Someone made a great point last night that we were a better proposition back then.

Here we go again then. So who do people want from a list of the likely managers linked. We all know six weeks into the process we will announce a super human aka Paul Simpson but let's just dream for a moment.

Was I dreaming, or was Roy Keane on this list last night? COYR

Well, Skybet have released their initial runners and riders. And who’s that lurking at 25-1 ?

Sky covering all bases with pundits, star name players, has-beens and specialists in failure. Surprised not to see McClaren and a Balkan or two on there.

Hughton, Moyes and McCarthy would have considered BS3 in the summer with the right setup and remuneration. Look what they’re all doing now - bringing success to their new clubs.

The cheap option won’t have been cheap as well, once you factor in compo 7 months in.

Absolutely fuming and the owners are seriously testing a 35 year allegiance to the City here. The next appointment has to be a good one.

Cook, if he'd come.

Won title with L2 with Chesterfield 13/14 then got them into the L1 playoffs the year we won it under Cotts.

Portsmouth, got them into L2 playoffs 15/16 then won title following year 16/17.

Wigan won L1 in his first season there 17/18 and as mentioned above, had Wigan playing competitive football for their size, winning games in the Championship for 2 years while everything was slowly unravelling with everything else. They would have stayed up were it not for their 12 point deduction.

Also, I suspect Joe Williams would give absolutely everything for Cook on the pitch and that can lead others to give two hoots about the football club that pays their wages.

I honestly don't care and I cannot let myself get excited about the recruitment process

We had a golden opportunity in the summer and somehow grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory

I have no faith they will get it right this time either, but if they want to sell season tickets it needs to be a decent appointment, pressure is on the board.

Voted Slav myself - just to bring some really fresh thinking, an identity and panache to our play.

Cook isn’t a bad shout. Not least as I suspect Williams and Walsh would miraculously recover and bolster our midfield.

Howe’s a strange one for me. Highly likeable, but just worry he’s an  ‘outstanding human being’ and we’ve had too many of those. We also majorly pulled his pants down on the Kelly transfer - so is he a brilliant judge of players?

Warnock or Mad Mick were top of my list last Summer. Wonder what they are doing now? What do you mean, look above us in the table? I think their DNAs/skill sets are even better fits now to reorganise a complete shambles of a team/Club, deal with soft, half-arsed, inconsistent and constantly ‘injured’ players and, top of the list, to tell Ashton to do one. I’d pay good money to watch that.

Can I just clarify two points from your post:

Who did you vote for?

Who did you want last summer?

Kelly is progressing well there, he’s had a few injuries since the move.

I think you may have a point about transfers - some of his signings (especially Jordan Ibe) were very poor value for money.

Trump-like I voted for Slav 3 times.

Mind you I voted for Warnock and Mad Mick 3 times last summer and lost.

Not quite sure what happened there .... but fixed hopefully now!

No way an earth that’s happening now, should’ve gone and got him in the summer but most fans thought his football was too archaic.

I really don’t know where we go from here. Bilic, Howe etc won’t be coming, that’s for sure.

Based on what? Bilic perhaps, but Howe seems exactly the sort of profile the board would want to me.
