gary s
While we are looking to start afresh at Ashton gate, can we please chuck the rugby out as well so we can have a football stadium back not just a sports stadium. SL could build a rugby stadium in cribs and name it after himself if so desired. We even have pictures of bowles player David Bryant ffs.lets get the look and feel of a Bristol city FC stadium back. I totally agree. On the face of it, its a non-starter - but if the Bears continue their progress, who knows where it will take them ? They've just built a fantastic training facility and theres a good chance that they'll be after their own stadium if they become the premier club in the UK imo. Yeah because as SL found out in the past, it's so easy to find land to build a stadium!
Admin phantom Posted February 17, 2021 Admin Report Share Posted February 17, 2021 Just to clarify people are suggesting having a stadium that will be potentially only used once a fortnight (post covid), or have a stadium making money every week? sh1t_ref_again
My only concern with having the Bears at AG was the pitch being ripped up, but that has never been an issue. Back when AG was solely football then the whole running cost has to come out of city's budget, whereas now with higher utilisation it costs us less. FWIW I have no problem with Bristol Sport either

Would rather we appointed a decent manager to be honest. The Bristol Sport and Bristol Bears rubbish what I regularly read on here is pathetic. The rugby are useful idiots, Gary. They drink the bar dry every game and provide so much income we can now pay wages like never before to such top quality players as Nakhi Wells, Christopher Brunt, er, Adrian Mariappa, um, a one legged Alfred Mawson... Yes indeed, we're big time charlies now, oh yes, just look at that wage bill. What could possibly go wrong.

No, let's have a stadium that is profitable for the good of all.
Bristol Oil Services
If Bris rugby weren't here making us or AG more "sustainable," they'd still be in Horfield paying the Parasites rent and making their losses less than they are now. The bowls picture is reference to Harry Dolman who had an indoor bowls rink built under the Dolman stand in the 70's for his personal use. So City's chairman then even had their own agenda for the ground. Steve Lansdown's agenda is for that stadium to be bringing in income 24/7 and the rugby is here to stay as well as the proposed Basketball arena. Let us be proud of this stadium, its still known as the home of Bristol City and will be for as long as it's there.
