I’ve always been anti-Mad Mick and anti-Colin but my standards have dropped so low that I despair that they’re not available!

Yeah sorry to pile on by disagreeing with you but our output has been relegation standard for weeks and the table looks grim to me, particularly given our impending fixtures.

The three teams below us have at least a game in hand as well as better form. Wednesday are picking up points, as are Rotherham.

Three more consecutive defeats and 3rd bottom will be within range.

I’ve never been anti either of them.  The only time I don’t like Warnock is when he is in the opposing dugout twice a season.  He’s a bit of a diva really.

I disagree with @Cowshedabout some of Warnock’s football being excruciating to watch.  I’m sure from his coaching standpoint it’s anything by pure, but when balls go into the box, tackles are won, endeavour shown, it’s done at pace, I actually find that exciting.

I found backwards and sideways with no purpose far more boring.  Backwards and sideways with purpose and at a good tempo is fine.  We don’t do that.

I couldn't disagree more.  Any new manager would have little opportunity to install a philosphy.  It is about a quick reaction.  We look absolutely shot and someone needs to sort that out now.  Bollocks to philosphy.  Stay up and then when normality comes back and a proper pre-season worry about philosphies and styles of play.

Well I couldn’t disagree more to that. The new manager would need about 11-12 points from 16 games to keep us up. That is easily achievable by a Paul Cook etc while installing their way of playing. Bringing in a dinosaur to then bring in someone else is a massive waste of resources in my opinion.

Yeah I mean anti them being City manager on the basis of wanting a team that plays attractive football, but not bothered by them personally. I definitely wouldn’t relate to them if they were my manager but what they do works.

Out of interest McCarthy is younger than Hughton. Just saying ?

I guess we need to define attractive football.

His record especially at this level speaks for itself though - he is a specialist in promotion.

We are 22nd in theChampionship form table (last 6 games) so we sacked Holden. In case people haven’t noticed, Boro are 20th in the same table with one more point from 6 games.

I still don't understand the Holden appointment in the 1st place.

It was completely reckless given the progress & investment made and given where the club had finally got arrived at in terms of reputation & stability in the Championship.

For once, we actually had the perfect set up to take the next steps in our evolution but the board voted to gamble on an option that had the narrowest of upside.

Hoping for a temp fix re Holden, not someone to drive us on, it backfired poor choice again by SL/MA and co. Sadly and more worryingly quite likely to do same again, surely we cant wait 6weeks or whatever it took last time to make another poor choice?.

Wouldnt suprise me a bit if Tinman was selected even till end of season, to keep all things nice and in house, will be very suprised if any of the "names" Pearson, Howe, Cook etc get a look in :(

It's Feb, there's a 1/4 of the season still to play, it's not 5/8 games (?) like last season.

I'd be concerned about putting it off to the summer again.

I think getting a new manager is like buying a new house - sometimes you can just sit wait for the perfect house to come available, but it make take years and you'll still have competition. So sometimes, you've got to move, so you've got to find the best that's currently on the market and make it your own.

I said when Holden was appointed, it could set us back 2 seasons - it's done 1 already and if we wait to the summer, it's going to impact into the next in terms of the new managers preparation and squad building.

There are surely some excellent candidates out there ready to go and start the re-build: I refuse to believe BCFC cannot attract a very good coach right now and if we can't, there is something very wrong behind the scenes. Yes it might cost a bit more now, but that's the price you pay when you take a gamble like they did on Holden.

That's what we need. Just pay someone with pedigree to work for 12 weeks to ensure we stay in this division before making a permanent appointment.

Could be the same person but with no possible ins and outs just make sure we stay up ffs.

Wouldn't want a temporary appointment and in any event it won't happen.

The bottom line is we need a new man who can both win games in the short term, and then progress us onto the next level in terms of top 6/promotion.

There are options out there that could tick these boxes.

Performances at the moment are dire, but we've seen many times before that results can pick up very quickly after the departure of a failing manager.

Jeez Kid, I think that's the second time in a week we've basically posted the same thing at exactly the same time on a thread. ?

Wise words!

No-one is ever too big to fail or in our case too good to go down.

Birmingham and Rotherham games next month seem pretty important games, the old must win comes to mind; however both have already beaten us this season so not filled with confidence atm. Huddersfield who we have already beaten...twice (despite us having 4 shots to there 24 in one game) could fall away, but make no mistake we need to step back from the edge ....soon.

The stats speak for themselves. He has won 8 promotions in his career - he is a specialist in promotion that is a FACT.

Got no problem with that. Just don't want to spend 3 or 4 weeks pissing about when we could just pay someone till the end of the season and piss around then

I dont. Our performances are dreadful. We create nothing and make basic defensive errors. We dont even look like getting a draw let alone a win.

Really?  Don't understand how you can be so relaxed about it. Suspect many Hull City fans were just as complacent this time last season!

We look totally shot of any confidence and unless SL/Ashton quickly get a new man in we are in trouble. Cannot see Simpson & Downing (who both need to go in my opinion) inspiring a turnaround. Lose against Barnsley, then 2 away games against top 6 contenders and we could be on the verge of the bottom 3 already.

Really; lost the last 6 games have Barnsley, Boro, Swansea then Bournemouth coming up next. Birmingham will beat us and probably Rotherham as well, we may get more than a point off Wycombe but that will involve us scoring more than them. Look at the fixtures left and tell me where our next 3pts is coming from.

We need a manager and now, Deans assistants are not the answer, the longer we wait the more chance of relegation, we are not too good to go down in fact we are pathetic at the moment.

Its the points on the board already. So many teams need to have good form to finish the season that they have not shown all season. Even at Wycombe form we hit 50 points. I don’t find it likely we don’t pick up any points the rest of the season.

I am not saying there isn’t a chance. Of course there is. If we had 5-6 less points, I’d be more fearful but we do not. We have seen 8 losses in a row before and it got better. The HC is gone. There will be more energy on Saturday. The new one comes in there will be more energy again. The new HC has to make sure we are safe but if he can’t pick up the 12-13 points needed and assess the squad then we hired the wrong one again.

I’m probably best advised to be vague about this, so..

If there’s a sliding scale with vintage Wimbledon at one extreme and vintage Barcelona on the other, I feel like Warnockball is somewhere in the middle but I’d prefer something a little further along the scale towards Messi, Iniesta and Xavi!

I know it’s popular for City fans to admire how other teams manage games with the more pragmatic play and cynical dark arts, and that’s fine, but it doesn’t float my personal boat at all. If I could choose to increase Semenyo’s flair by 10% or his game management by 10%, I’d amp up the flicks and tricks and enjoy the show even if we won fewer points!

The perception of these two is interesting.

Mick has been managing longer (I think; another assumption) so looks more worn, older. Wrinkled. Or Chris has better genes (better DNA?)?

Mick's best work as a manager is more distant now, Chris's success at Brighton more fresh in the mind.

Mick's dour time at Ipswich where he was at war with some of their crowd will have put many off here and been at the front of their minds, even though in hindsight we now know he did a very reasonable job in the circumstances (the owner keeping his dosh to himself, selling his best players etc).

Both have delivered promotions, and both have delivered stodgy, cautious football. Both are a class above anyone we've had here since Coppell.

Why do people continually go on about Warnock and McCarthy? They both have jobs and won't be coming here. Thankfully in the case of the former.

You can throw Hughton into that too. Can only imagine its because they are what you define as experienced successful managers at this level. Its been done to death on here but people are still incredibly frustrated and I dont blame them.

I do not understand the love for Colin.

Horrid man, horrid football. An English Pulis.

Neil is not a ‘horrid man’ - his pantomime villain, football persona is a well-researched act to take pressure off his players and it has worked perfectly for decades with so many people falling for it - he can’t believe how he has got away with it for so long and people still go for it hook, line and sinker ...
