Paul Cook is what we term the base point selection but the view remains that with Ashton in charge we are likely to be underwhelmed by the choice. Having just seen Woodgate appointed at B’mouth I’m braced for a vigorous rigorous six week session leading to Paul “Simmo” Simpson being anointed best human (2021). Looks like Appleton has ruled himself out. For me he was on the next rung down from Cook [who is on the same rung as Neil].
