Swede
He's got all of the charisma of a house brick. A right condescending bastard. Media days will be fun. Woe betide any journo giving him a banal question, he'll give him that withering look and fry him on the spot. Exactly what we need.
Lanterne Rouge
I wonder if @Robbored`s convinced yet - there`s nothing on the OS so it`s just rumour and speculation at this point.
TomThumb84
I actually now expect Ashton to leave or have a very much watered down role imminently. If this happens, it is clear to me that Steve Lansdown has had enough and been fired into action here, and thank god he has. The King has stamped his authority on his Kingdom! RUSSEL85
I said yesterday we need a no nonsense nasty bastard. Mission accomplished. This is a SL appointment surely, MA would wet his panties!

Get him on a 5 year contract Could be a plan here. I still think we have either Cook (contractural issues) or Appleton (loyalty to Lincoln) in our sights for end of season. However, if we stay up/Pearson does well then we can decide whether his demands - which are likely to be far in excess of the other two - are worth paying. If we go down, Pearson won’t be interested in managing at that level whereas the other two would. Having said all that, I too would have liked a 2 or 3 year contract to provide greater level of stability and ability to actually lay solid foundations to move forward rather than a short-term fix. If he likes what he’s found he can sign a longer contract. Assuming the football improves he will be in a strong position as it would be difficult for SL not to keep him
Cardy
I’m assuming that the longer term deal is dependent on us staying in the Championship..... Can’t see Pearson sticking around in League 1. Hopefully he can sort us out and can all move forward together from here - hopefully without Ashton. When you recruit quality players - the likes of Kalas, Mawson, Wells, Martin, Lansbury - but then place a nobody in charge of them as Coach, those players quickly become disillusioned if the Coach turns out to be a dud. What quality players require is a quality Coach, one they respect. Pearson is certainly that. And like you say, maybe some of those ooc in the summer will want to stay, if Pearson does too. City37
Blimey, this appointment will force the club to change - if the structure and personnel stays the same then this will end in tears. Can you imagine Pearson with Ashton? Bristol football about to get very prickly with Joey Barton heavily linked to the Gas. Would be well chuffed with Pearson - a real catalyst for change at AG. The Journalist
This has probably been done already, so apologies, but would make sense if he fell into the category of being unavailable but interested in the summer given he suffered with long Covid. Would explain the speed of it happening now, too.

My excitement is very much tempered by it only being until the end of the season - would be such a City thing for us to get a decent manager at last and for it to balls up somehow. Really really hoping this works!

WirralRobin
Not trying to rain on the parade, he sounds a really promising appointment and so refreshing to be getting an experienced manager hopefully in his prime but does anyone have any info on what went wrong for Pearson at Derby during his spell there in 2016? Redtucks
Just saw this: Nigel Pearson to Bristol City. Joey Barton to Bristol Rovers. Still think there should be a sitcom where they’re forced to live together in a Harbourside flat while managing the city’s rivals teams.
