189thoughts
Thought Palmer was really good tonight, especially in the 1st half. I actually think he's been his most consistent for us since returning from loan. Faded a bit in the 2nd half but with the right players around him he is worth sticking with. DT The Optimist
Perhaps it’s about playing, & consistency that comes with that. Being in one match out for another cannot be any good...
Engvall’s Splinter
Has done well since his return. Seemed to be unnecessarily dropped from the 11 for a few games by Holden. Thought he worked hard this evening and put in a shift you’d expect from a player of his value. Hopefully more to come.
The Gasbuster
Definitely should be picked ahead of Paterson. Been playing well lately; showing the talent we all know he has.
Hampshire Red
3 games every 8 days means a rotation policy is inevitable. Just a question of who to drop/bring in. Will be interesting to see who NP wants to play at Swansea- a much tougher test than Warnock's team who we normally beat, whoever our coach is
Henry
He’s a player who you need to give a run of games to top up his fitness and touch. He’s not always effective at closing down and blocking, but he is actually a hard working player. It’s lazy to call him lazy.
BTRFTG
It's because he (and Nagy) was far further forward. That gave Bakinson space in behind where, when not under pressure, he can pick a pass. Nagy was our standout doing the legwork, but KP's early ball in behind, absolutely the opposite of all WeeLee coached made the difference tonight. GrahamC
One of his best games for us tonight but some seriously rose tinted spectacles about his other performances since his return. Did well v Huddersfield & Preston but really mediocre otherwise.
Red Exile
Palmer has his critics but like Adam Nagy is a player with real quality, full of subtle touches and flair. It doesn't always come off but I suspect he's a confidence player, and needs to know that the boss believes in him and will give him break. I never felt LJ really did that. Let's hope that NP, who has worked with a few flair players in his day, gets the best out of Kasey.
The Bard
He has started 5 league games and a cup game since coming back from his loan. We've won 4 of these which is massively out of kilter with our overall performance. No rose tinted glasses. Just facts.

He hasn't done himself any favours since coming in on a permanent contract, but I think a lot of it may have been that Holden didn't rate him, and/or couldn't fit him into a system he preferred (although in hindsight he probably couldn't find a system he preferred himself!!) Played in the right position, players like Palmer (see also Wells, Fam) can look really good, however they also need a bit of consistency. In one week, out the next doesn't help, but if you aren't performing in the first place you shouldn't be in the side. Catch 22.... He did have a quieter 2nd half, but overall much like the rest of the team played well overall. Also a mention for Towler who looked very confident at times, and had a good game. Having Kalas next to him may have worked wonders. Also very nice to see the ball being played through the midfield as well. We do have players that can do stuff with a ball at their feet after all... dREDful
His best performance in a long time for me. He'll need that level of effort every game to stay in Pearson's team. Let's hope he can maintain it because he's great when he plays like that!
