underhanded
An interesting game... Whilst not always high on quality, the competitive aggression and intensity of the two teams shows you why they are both in the play off mix. It's also the type of game we've been lacking in lockdown - there's a 'training session' feel to many games this season! Good watch that
CyderInACan
Saw some of it earlier. Looked like some of the players were trying. Not sure how I feel about that.

Barnsley run around like mad, but they all do. They all make runs, they all track back, they all press. And behind that they have a big 3 who are pretty dominant and aggressive. You put in 2 or 3 that don't fit in with their way of playing and it doesn't work. I think that's a problem we have. Getting that blend right. We still don't play like a team. How have Barnsley and Reading progressed far and away further than us

Seeing Barnsley (and Reading) in the mix - fifth - with seven games to go is a reminder that reaching the play-offs and giving yourself a shot is not fanciful or impossible, without parachute payments, and it's also a stark reminder and comparison as to the "success" that was Lee Johnson here, as some used to have it (or, the Johnson/Ashton era). A pitiful claim. Barnsley avoided relegation on the last day last season, and we're in L1 the year before that. Reading finished 14th last season, below us, and 20th in the two seasons prior to this. We wasted three or four years following promotion (and created the current mess in so doing). We are a bit of a shambles/an embarrassment (given everything we have going for us) and can only hope Pearson can do something about it/us.
