Watched it in the Anchor (Beer East Devon) a very good evening all round ?

I spent my 25th wedding anniversary with wife in some dingey backstreet Dublin pub, she wasn't amused. 31 years ago today Mr Frisk won the national and we beat Wigan away 3-2) ?

Amazing day from start to finish. Beautiful weather and BS3 was buzzing. Revenge was in the air. Greville Smythe was alive and the Natch wall was packed, Swindon’s escort was coming over the flyover and Ashton Road emptied to greet them.
inside the ground was one of the best atmospheres I have experienced at the gate, from start to finish, got a great smile on my face as I type this. If ever there was payback given then this was it only this time we did win the league and Swindon got bummed at Wembley

One of my favourite nights as a City fan.
Swindon have always been a big rival to me personally, we just couldn't beat them for years, to win 3-0 on Sky against them kind of banished all the bad memories to a good end.

You could tell beating Swindon meant a lot to the players too

Had to make do with watching on Sky but my God it was glorious. The sheer relief and euphoria when Bryan scored was something else. Every promotion season I've seen has had a moment when you just knew we were going to do it, and that was that season's.

I was at Preston the following weekend where the "Flint said no" chant got its first airing. Started in the first half, carried on in the concourse at half time and through the second as well.

Brilliant night and atmosphere, especially after the shenanigans in the game at their place earlier in the season.

From what I remember we sat off and let them have a lot of the ball, and picked them off clinically. The third goal in particular was an amazing feeling because that meant there was absolutely no way back from them. And then Flint’s post-match interview was the icing on the cake.

I'd been to the away game that year and don't think I can remember my attitude changing from excitement to utter bafflement / depression so quickly in a game. Made it all the sweeter later in the year!

I was in the Swindon home end for that one (friends got tickets and I was helping with some folks in the disabled section).

I remember their fans climbing over wheelchair users to celebrate their winner. Tw*ts.

I was also at Preston the following weekend , about 12 of us stayed in Blackpool . Flint said no chants were epic and as you said got better and louder  as game went on. We stayed drinking in Preston after match while waiting for train and got talking to some of their fans in pub, they said the flint chant was one of the best chants they had heard in years??

Cotts celebrations haven't been edited out of this one like the clip they put out last year for it!

For those of you unable to lip read Cotts’ message to Swindon was “******* have that”.

Leading up to the Swindon game some of their players had a pop at Scott Murray telling kit boy to pick the pants off the floor.

JETs message back was we're going to make you eat those pants.

Never heard that before, a great story & as JET said, we certainly did.

It's deeply concerning that this was 6 years ago now, christ. That team, that year though... I don't think we'll ever see dominance like it again from a City side

But similar to this summer we had the chance to sign a new starting 11, we can live in hope for this summer

Fantastic memories from that season. I also made the trip to Preston, (along with a great many of away games, including the one when Swindon won the league :rofl2br:)

However I very very foolishly (on the advice from my wife?) agreed that it was probably  a bit silly to drive just as far, to Bradford on the following Tuesday!

Whata mistaka to maka!!  :facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:
