ChippenhamRed
Absolutely superb from Neville. Can’t see how anyone who genuinely loves the game can disagree with a word of what he says. He’d make a great FIFA or UEFA president.

Numero Uno
Just thinking out loud......how about the remaining clubs lobby every MP to pass a law that says any foreign player applying for a work permit at a “non-FA recognised club” is refused entry into the UK. Then lob all six out of the FA? I’m sure legal types on here will give me reasons why that can’t be done!!!

However the underlying assumption is the incumbent football institutions - the FA, UEFA, FIFA etc are to be cherished and not challenged. It’s well know they are corrupt as ****. I’m not for this new league at all but breaking the traditional footy institutions is not a bad thing in my book
BCFCGav
I don’t think it should happen and I don’t think it will happen, but I’m wondering HOW it could work. The 6 would F off to their new fun lil project, meaning we’d need a big reshuffle of league structuring. I guess you could have no relegations for a season but clubs still able to go up, to fill the gaps in each league with new clubs from below? All speciation at this point. Be our best shot of getting to the promised land

sglosbcfc
What is very sad and annoying is that the 'Big Six' will expect to keep a team in the Premier League as well. They will have more riches than ever and will have bigger squads and a 'reserve' team that can compete in the Premier League while their elite team compete in the Super League. I really hope the authorities, general football fans, media companies and fans of the 'big six' unite and oppose it. I also really hope that UEFA don't give them more concessions in the Champions League because they have made these disgraceful moves.

Numero Uno
The one thing that would kill it is lack of interest but that would involve people, tv companies, sponsors and advertisers requiring principles and sticking to them!! If it goes ahead I fear that many of these fans of top 6 clubs “up in arms” will quietly purchase their season tickets.
Olé
Everyone comparing this to American sports - we could actually take one sensible lead from US approach to sports teams. If these clubs want to move to a new league then I expect the US way would be that these new super league franchises are exactly that, new clubs, existing at the expense of their existing "Premier League" or "Football League" franchises. Those historic "franchises" will cease to exist and so will their history. Everton or Villa or someone will become the most successful club in English football history and these six clubs will have zero history whatsoever. All for it. Engvall’s Splinter
Whilst I don’t agree with it, the Premier League get what’s coming to them as far as I’m concerned. They don’t give a monkeys about fair sporting spirit to those in the EFL. Reap what you sow.

Mind you we’ve had a taste of that already! I bet there will be some stupid in game rules as well. Loads of subs, specialised free kick taker can come on and off whenever there's one, 3x30 min matches with loads of adverts and on field singers etc in the breaks

On the main topic this is hubris on a grand scale. The atmosphere at these games will be dull, half full stadiums and tourists on their iPads. We’ve seen during covid that football without fans is greatly diminished so beyond a period of initial interest and hype this breakaway will ossify and lose out to superior national championships. Eventually this will follow through to tv revenue. The clubs will lost connection with new fans locally, basically becoming a rugby barbarians or Harlem globetrotters playing exhibition matches no one cares about. Let them go as far as I’m concerned. #thismeansmore

adamski
Fair play to the German and French clubs. This is a grab on a world market. It’s not like American football, which, given the size of the country, did not have a national league system developed around communities. I’m sorry, this is the price you pay for enticing foreign investment and dancing with the likes of Murdoch!
WOODSY1111
Been losing the love for football for quite some time and genuinely started to feel a lot of hatred towards the sport. Football has been far too pampered and players over protected for far too long. I wouldn’t be at all bothered if any clubs decided to leave(good riddance)as long as they are completely expunged from returning. Hopefully this will return the wages back to a respectable level of being sport not jobs and the fans/supporters can pay what is considered a manageable amount for tickets. The days when the likes of Nakhi Wells are very well paid rather than obscenely paid can’t come soon enough for me. Or the regulations or governing bodies. It's like player power but at club level. Big problem now for the governing bodies and how they respond. Cant see them punishing the biggest clubs that make the sport the most money too much (unfortunately). Football has reached a new low. Greed, money and **** everyone else. He was bang on. It's time these fat, rich mega-clubs got a kick in the arse. Starting next season with a big points reduction would be a good start. But would he have said that if he was still playing for Man United and not an owner of a League Two club?

Used to love watching football on the TV but now I'm not fussed. It seems boring now. And why the hell are Tottenham involved? They've won nothing for 25 years apart from a carling cup. Their history isn't even that good compared to other clubs
