New Badge - 2 Year Appraisal

Always liked simple badges like Wolves, Derby’s ram, Sheffield Weds old owl badge, Leicester’s old fox badge (1980s) and Swansea.

This current badge is our version, it’s not supposed to look lifelike. I think it’s great but would prefer it if they did away with the circle around the outside, it’s not needed and looks too much like Brentford’s.

I quite like Wednesdays new one. There 90's one was way ahead of the time looking at it. I like both.

Liked the old badge, something unique. Now i can barely tell the difference between ours and Brentford and half the football league.

No one laughed at the old one or had any strong feelings against it so what was the point in changing it?

As for our identity as a whole. Entry music now some standard generic crap. Awful commercialised half time music and entertainment. Its sad to see how commercialised the stadium and club has become.

I remember going as a boy and half time was the cheerleaders, on numerous occasions have seen the wurzels playing, even remember someone parachuting onto the pitch for half time.

I'd love us to come out to rockin Robin or the wurzels, to return the stadium back to its former self, wooden seats re installed, smoking to be permitted again and to actually hear drink up the cider at the end of a game more than once a season!

Get a local bristolian in reading the half time scores and teams ffs.

I’ve never liked the Robin as our emblem. The little chirpy bird. Hardly going to put the fear of god into opponents is it?

That’s not the job of the badge.

As for Robins, Britain’s most loved bird I believe according to some recent poll. Not the most frightening of birds maybe but feisty and aren’t afraid to defend themselves against others.

Missed opportunity. Fans used the Angry Robin and others because we didnt identify with the crest. Loads of us are not from Bristol and grew up with a team that was the Pride of the West a West Country club playing its football in the City of Bristol. People from the club were met to discuss ideas (Smith something????). The idea was that any change would be done with fans 100% with no without. Out went Smith?? in came Bristol Sport in came the corporate logo minus involvement from fans.

Any suggestions for a concept that relates to Bristol and signifies strength, valour, courage, victory etc?

There's the proud old "Virtute et Industria"

(though our lot would probably understand that as "we're tits, and in dust are we all"...)

Time for a complete rebrand. Any suggestions for a concept that relates to Bristol and signifies strength, valour, courage, victory etc?

The chirpy robin is fiercely territorial and will act very aggressively when defending its patch. I'd say that's a good symbol for a football club.

Get Bill Oddie in to give our squad a pep talk!?

It's not grown on me at all really. I strongly dislike the general round shape. The red circle is quite generic and just presents the while thing as almost childish. It's hard to explain but I don't like it.

When it came out they also showed some of the other options. One had just the robin from the current badge, and it sat atop a version of the suspension bridge. I felt that was superior.

I also actually prefer the simplified badge that appears on training kit and other items. I think that image, with a simple "Bristol City" written below it, would again be an improvement on the current offering

That angry robin would've been a f---ing joke as a badge.

Well, having already upset one fellow fan....how about...

Back in the day, shoemaking was an important industry in Bristol.

So how a about a cobblers themed branding. Topical at least.

Tbw sorry your ill might need to see your GP about it sounds bad. The Angry Robin was part joke. Steve Lansdown said the Robin years back wasnt angry enough so fans made one that was. Nobody said it should be the club badge to the club.

Exactly. Designed by the fans. Great response to SL.

I prefer the clubs version to one with all the lines completed and extra legs and eyes, however... There was a version from the original concepts that had a simple version of the bridge in it, I'd rather have that one. Not sure I still have a copy of it.

This one? It's the one I liked as well.

Found the old thread from the time of the announcement.

And could Bill go into our opponent’s dressing room before every match and explain it.

Few people think of a Robin as a feisty little so and so. That’s my point.

Virtute et Industria means something like “hard work is a virtue”. Not very appropriate for our current squad of wasters!

Yeah it was more than likely that one, there were some other similar designs but either way it makes it unique and not a spurs copy.
