Check out their story....

Promotion, top half, top half, relegation battle 47 points, play offs, promotion.

Bring it on Pearson

It’s certainly not beyond the realms of possibilities that we could start on an upward trajectory now in the same way Brighton did , I’m certainly feeling confident under Pearson that we will to be honest.

A bit like "little" Barnsley; relegated in 2018, back up 2019, 21st in 2020, play offs this year. Who or what brought about their transformation?

Similar sized clubs, they moved into a new stadium, we developed ours. They appointed Hughton in their poor season, I think there are a load of similarities

Hughton turned up at Brighton mid season when Brighton looked in danger of relegation, the football he served up was dire but he kept them up although the fan base was split about him.

One summer and some good signings and attractive football was achieved and play off bound the next season, Hughton helped re shape Brighton..

Mid season they were in and around the relegation scrap.

2015/16- Playoffs.

2016/17- Promotion.

Unsure how their FFP position at that time compared to ours at this time and moving into the next year or 2- he spent a bit there IIRC.

They did spend and Tony Bloom is a gambler by trade, if they didn't go up when they did it would not of looked so Rosie but Bloom played a card and it payed off

Bit different now in that Future Financial Information blah blah, agree though but it can be harder to gamble- if we're to roll the dice it would need to be 2021/22 IMO.

2021/22 would feel the most advantageous year I think.

Agree with that, throw the dice this summer with the aim of getting up in two years.. Or face the shit..

Could even be sooner than that if we threw the dice to the max, ie decided that because we theoretically could lose say £55-65m this coming season, that we would allow ourselves to with the gamble being going up in 2021/22.

If we did that and didn't go up, then it would be Gamble-Straight into restrictions of some kind in Summer 2022.

I don't think SL would take that approach fwiw.

Indeed, big difference between Steve Lansdown and Tony Bloom though, both care a lot for their clubs and are both very wealthy but Steve is going to approach things far more slowly financially than Bloom did..

I can see the point @cidercity1987 is trying to make.

Brighton owner Tony Bloom spent a lot of time and money getting his clubs infrastructure right, new stadium and then a new training facility..

He then turned to an experienced manager to help mould the club both on and off the pitch, hopefully we are building in the same way..
