CheddarReds
Family feel no longer at the club? No no no, let's be absolutely clear - a rigorous process was carried out to ensure any player transferred into the football club under Mark Ashton's watch had the correct DNA for Bristol City football club. Mr Hankey
Good riddance, “family feel”? More like cosy ******* club. Bet he cried into his corn flakes and pissed his pants when “Deano” was finally sacked to be replaced by Pearson.

Sturny
Had some fantastic moments at City. When we were flying he was certainly a part of that team. There were moments where he made defenders look like cones My favorite moment of his was his goal Vs Sheffield United Good luck in the future JP
MATT BCFC
When you hear ex players talk about what it was like when they were at the real big clubs it certainly doesn't sound like a 'family feel' there. Get the impression it just wasn't professional enough here to be honest.

LondonBristolian
Bottom line is he was a big part of some great moments over recent seasons, not least against the Manchester clubs. He never quite managed to deliver consistently for us and I think it is probably a good time all round for him to move on but I wish him luck and hope it clicks for him wherever he ends up next. We don't want players to feel casual and able to take the piss but he may well mean getting back to a point where the team all connect with each other, look out for each other and fight for each other on the pitch and that would have to be a good thing. TomThumb84
Family feel = Comfort zone Flashed brilliance on occasions, but too often drifted out of games in batches. Right decision for player and club. I wish him all the best, but if Bob Taylor leaving for WBA was a 10 then this is a 2.

But the reason he's not been renewed is no more complicated than we need better to progress - starting with Pearson's requirement for robust players, physically and mentally. Paterson was brilliant on his day but those days weren't often enough, it's that simple. Pearson knows you need players to get out of this division who will give you 7/10 as a minimum, every week. That's not Paterson. Genuinely good luck to him, I enjoyed watching him play for us. I imagine he'll have offers from other Champ clubs and hope he does well. Now we have a manager who sets the bar higher and rightly so if all this talk about the Premier League is to come to fruition.
Gazred
He was good for us in the main. I've enjoyed watching him play. Sometimes frustrating but we got our moneys worth. Thanks and good luck Pato.

The family feel he is referring to is him Aiden Flint, Wilbo, Little, Pack, Smith and a couple of others from the double team and just after still knock around together and go on holiday together. He was a big part of the group of Flint, Bryan, Fielding, Wright, Pack, Smith etc. They were close on and off the pitch. He slotted into that L1 winning team. Where is there a social "group" now? Who honestly in our squad do we think hang out together? You're not gunna see photos of the current lot holidaying together anytime soon are you. 2 minutes ago, REDOXO said: The family feel he is referring to is him Aiden Flint, Wilbo, Little, Pack, Smith and a couple of others from the double team and just after still knock around together and go on holiday together. BCFCGav
I know things are rightly a bit sour after this season but some posters being a bit cruel here IMO. He served us well for a long time and was involved in some of the best performances of my time supporting City. Wish him all the best in his next venture. Topper 123
I think we’ve all known in the last couple of seasons there’s been a bad apple or 2 in the squad and let’s hope it’s been ousted and we can start a fresh , Pato all the best for the future been a great servant

One thing that strikes me is that the eleven players who are leaving include several who've been there for a few years, plus people like Rowe and Gilmartin who it is a bit tough to envisage as bad apples. I do worry that, if there are players that aren't great for the morale of the squad, they may not necessarily be the ones that have gone to date and I wonder if more sales will be necessary and possible over the summer. Tbf we can add in that the players (like the rest of us) just haven't been able to socialise / get to together away from the training ground over the past 12/15 months due to the COVID restrictions etc and that can't be as conducive to team bonding and helping new players properly integrate into the squad. Imo I reckon it was Wells, FD and O'Dowda. I just get the vibes they all don't want to be here and think they're better than they really are. This season I also got bad apple vibes from Kalas and Joe Williams this season have been somewhat open with their criticism. Granted my views are completely based on what's been fed to me on what i've read online and seen on interviews. So just a shot in the dark really.
