I’ve been there, it’s called;

Het Waterhaus aan de Bierkant & as @Merrick's Marvels can testify, I fell off my stool at the end of the evening..

Belgium & the Czech Republic are basically beer heaven, though perhaps not the next day..

I never visited this establishment, but, having just 'Googled' it, I note it used to be a brothel!

I am not sure when it changed its purpose, but any connection between its infamous past and your incident?

I remember lying with my head on the table…:fastasleep:. I was so drunk going to bed but felt as fresh as a daisy at 8am the next morning! :D

Nope, much more connection with the fact it has a menu of 120 beers, 40 different ones, served in single, double or triple strength..

? Still my favourite pub, I think!

What's the beer with the pink elephant? That one definitely got the better of me.

Sadly not but we weren't in a fit state even if there had been!

I once enjoyed a Belgium beer called Jenlain, amber ale it was described as. 2 bottles and I was smiling.

Anyway, what has Belgium beer got to do with our medical team?

Both have same outcome - holy shit, what happened, how did it come to this?

Probably a lot if their work was the result!

Disclaimer: I’m not seriously suggesting they were pissed when making their bizarre decisions regarding treatment and fitness, but they might as well had been.

I'm getting massively confused at the moment. I've just realised that Dave Rennie is not, as I had assumed, Dave Rennie. It was only last week that I found out that Steve Walsh was not actually Steve Walsh.

It would help me a lot if Pearson could steer away from employing or being linked with anyone else who shares their name with a 90s footballer. Could someone ITK pass that memo on?

What? Really? Steve Walsh is not Steve Walsh? Wow. I never knew either. I had a feeling Dave Rennie wasn't Dave Rennie but the Walsh one is news to me. Just glad Nigel Pearson is 'the Nigel Pearson' and not a different one like the on Talk Sport. Phew.

A noose! Can't imagine the ABV on that one, more than the Bush I shouldn't wonder. What the heck were we thinking!

By the end of the evening, very little..

Let’s gloss over that vodka session in the student bar in Krakow, too.

That absolutely was a low, especially after the incident with Mr. Fry on exiting the taxi & us finding out a certain Czech swear word was unfortunately exactly the same in Polish..

What really didn’t help with Steve Walsh was that he was Head of Recruitment at Leicester so it just made sense he was the same Steve Walsh who played for Leicester in the 90s.

But apparently this Steve Walsh:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Walsh_(scout)

is not this Steve Walsh:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Walsh_(footballer)

And let’s not even get started on these guys:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Walsh_(American_football)
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Walsh_(rugby_referee)

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Walsh_(rugby_league)

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Walsh_(athlete)

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Walsh_(hurler)

How can we be expected to keep track of who Steve Walsh is when Steve Walsh is everyone?

I remember playing darts and not being able to see the board after several too many of those vodkas! Deary me.

This thread's gone off topic somewhat, hasn't it.

Mickey Walsh’s brother….scorer of MOTD’s goal of the season in the mid-70s (for Blackpool).

You're in Bruges aren't you?

Do you know of the alcoves? Do you know this word?

I think it's more that @Davefevsstarted the wrong topic, and we've corrected the course.

yes, like a yard of ale. The bar we went to in Ghent had a system where you had to hand in one of your shoes (which went in a small basket suspended high up on the ceiling) in return for the glass.

You must have been enjoying the hops

Mods. Please alter thread title to "Belgian Beer and others" or something similar.

Lighten up, the forum becomes a rambling mezze or smorgasbord of tangents every close season, we’ll wield the edit, merge and move buttons once we get into pre-season and it all get serious again.

Absolutely fine.

Renember going to Belgos (The Granary for you oldies, Loch Fyne for you youngsters) and deciding to choose from their extensive list of beers by alcohol percentage - highest first.  Had about 3 (not even pints) and felt decidedly pissed….albeit didn’t cost me much.

Used to like the old Gold Label Barley Wine (10%) stuff back in the say.

Also, reminds me of my bruv and mine beer mat collection.  Carry on, carry on.

God, is the Granary now a Belgos? I've been to the original in London, Moules Frites and something I've never heard of to drink, which is the beer equivalent of jet fuel.

Just glad I wasn't the only one who had made that assumption. Who knew there were so many Steve Walshes!
