Strange. Can’t think of anyone better to get them back up again.

Said a while ago he wouldn't stick around if there weren't necessary funds to guarantee a fight for promotion

I love how he tried to justify doing a runner by saying he couldn't commit to an extra year if he got them back up to the PL next season.

"If I were to stay and achieve promotion next season the expectation would be for me to continue for at least another season and, sadly, that is not a commitment I feel able to make at this stage of my career."

Clearly the Championship doesn't interest him. Why not just be honest about it.

Quit to become new DoF at Bristol City perhaps?

?

Given he has never been a director of football and never shown any interest in the role, why would he want it? And why would we want a director of football with no background in the job who would rather be doing a different job instead?

A director of football role is a specialist role with a specialist skillset. It is not somewhere you park a spare manager and hope for the best.

Managing in the Championship is obviously beneath him.

He'll wait until the first Prem manager is sacked next season and then come riding in on his horse....

Yep, I can’t see Steve Bruce being in a job for much longer. Allardyce could well be moving to the North East before long.

Precisely that. He’ll be back in management come January/February at a premier team struggling for points.

Can’t see the fascination with him . Also lost all respect of him during his short England regime

Surely the most depressing man in British football.  When you see him on the touch line alongside managers like Klopp or Gardiola you realise how far the game has progressed.  A dinosaur.

He managed them previously and didn't do too well so I doubt it.

Becoming very few lower Prem clubs he hasn't managed now.

From his leaving quotes, it sounds like he is looking to wait and see who is struggling mid season so he can come in for a short term rescue attempt.

And shit load of money ?

Interesting he said he sees himself as a short term manager, and that WBA needs long term thinking. Apparently they offered him a new deal, the bit I saw said a very good offer but how they know is anyones guess. Just from the post match interview he wasn't going to stay.
Whatever you think of him and his "style of play" he does seem to get a reaction, and the little bits I've seen of WBA they are quite entertaining to watch.

Senior Lives Matter Dolman.

Don't take a knee though. You'll struggle to get up again.

I guess at his age he doesn't want to commit to a 2/3 year "project" where he'd have to get them back up, keep them there and put foundations in to benefit them after he's gone. He hasn't done a job like that for a long time now.
