Abit of a surprise as he's still young enough to play but based on what you guys are saying he could be good for us

A thoughtful and knowledgeable man, he should do well. I thought his comments on Robins TV were excellent and he has contributed to the success of our U23s. Good luck to him.

Thought his insights into players on Robins TV were very informative, him and Tinnion probably the best co-commentators imo.

Best of luck to him, good opportunity.

Agree.

Nice bloke too.

But…..Swindon??? ???

He might well be a nice person but he is one of the most bizarre signings we have made in years.

I listened to one of Pearson’s interviews from towards the end of the season again the other day & he talked about being “slicker” & “more efficient” as a football department.

Hopefully this means that we won’t be giving 2 year contracts to League Two standard footballers not to play in the future.

Thought he was awful on Robins TV it must be said, but good luck to him

he wasn't that bad on Robins TV, it was just the over optimistic commentary when we were so rubbish. I preferred Tin's groaning, I have to say! ?

Assistant to our 23’s who won their group and works with the Irish age group squads as a coach, that may stop working in league 2 with no international breaks

Was Johnson’s determination to have 4 senior goalkeepers around for all sessions

Didn't like how he tried to turn everything into a positive at times. It felt like he just needed to get real at some points.

Yeah totally, we'd be clearly dreadful most games and he would say the most pathetically over optimistic comments about the side, after a while it got annoying very quickly into matches.

I think you get that in general on local commentary as they're all too scared to upset anyone

Absolutely. Bentley would take a goal kick and it'll go out for a throw-in barely in their half or something and he'd say "Bentley just has such a powerful kick to him doesn't he? Not surprised that went out"

Just to be clear I don’t blame him at all but with Wollacott seemingly on indefinite contracts without ever playing too, it makes absolutely no sense & whatever he earned was a waste of money.

He is indeed still 'young enough to play', but conversely he's been old enough since he made his League debut about 16 years ago - the spanner in his career works seems to have been that he's never been thought good enough anywhere to cement a place, even in the lower leagues.

I echo the 'bizarre' comment from Graham, not only that we ever signed him in the first place but that he seems to have had a relatively well paid and extended professional football career while always apparently being a 2nd, 3rd (or even worse) choice keeper who barely played.

87 (lower league) apps. in about 16 years since debut and yet City signed him seemingly in the full knowledge he was unlikely to ever play a game for us.

My head hurts thinking about it, and 'bizarre' as it may seem personally I'm delighted he's gone.

In fairness, even he gave up at times on the positivity / "rose tinted glasses" as we got progressively worse and worse.... I felt for all the co commentators as it was bad enough watching it, never mind having to find words to describe it.... and they also had to face the players on the Monday afterwards. not an easy task..

To be fair, he provided a bit of balance to the gloom and despair on here on match days ?

Good luck to him but I could never understand why we signed him as a player in the first place. A very strange signing.

Signed as a player so contracted as such and ends up being a coach and Robins Tv's go to analyser.

Why not just get a fully qualified specialist coach it would've been a lot easier and probably cheaper.

The first ever player signing to never play a game, £4K a week to be 3rd in line with the 23s and coach the 18s keepers here and there,  RobinsTV extraordinaire, How will we replace him ????

Did Darren Caskey ever play more than a reserve/u23 game?

You mean like someone whose done their A licence for outfield and goalkeepers?

I said the reason we signed him above, Johnson wanted 4 keepers at all sessions and Max/Jojo were out on loan most the time
