Good luck to him but I could never understand why we signed him as a player in the first place. A very strange signing.

Signed as a player so contracted as such and ends up being a coach and Robins Tv's go to analyser.

Why not just get a fully qualified specialist coach it would've been a lot easier and probably cheaper.

The murky world of football transfers. 'Twas ever thus.

Any idea if Wollacott is out of contract on the 30th June 2021 or 2022 as he could be a good signing for us

He's on our list of contracted players for next season, nothing to say the club wouldn't let him go for the right deal though, minimal fee with a chunky sell on for example.

He looked good in the one game he played for us and if Power & Co hadn't messed up having too many loan players he would have had a good run in the team

His contract was due to be up on 30.6, but we had a year option.  Can only assume we exercised that option.  So due to expire next summer now.

He is indeed still 'young enough to play', but conversely he's been old enough since he made his League debut about 16 years ago - the spanner in his career works seems to have been that he's never been thought good enough anywhere to cement a place, even in the lower leagues.

I echo the 'bizarre' comment from Graham, not only that we ever signed him in the first place but that he seems to have had a relatively well paid and extended professional football career while always apparently being a 2nd, 3rd (or even worse) choice keeper who barely played.

87 (lower league) apps. in about 16 years since debut and yet City signed him seemingly in the full knowledge he was unlikely to ever play a game for us.

My head hurts thinking about it, and 'bizarre' as it may seem personally I'm delighted he's gone.

Wonder how he will look back on his career? Nice work if you can get someone willing to pay you to do not a lot, or wasted opportunities. Yes he is still young enough to earn a living from football, but he will never get his prime playing days back.

Sad thing is football is littered with players like that, or perhaps Covid has changed that in the sense clubs have to run much tighter.

Many thanks and hopefully we may get him on loan if he's not going to be sold

Would not surprise me if we sold him this summer.  Extending his contract to delay letting him go seems futile.  Could of course be a “just in case” Bentley goes late in the window and we can’t get someone in.

O was surprised we took the option.
