Steve Cooper quitting Swansea

Apologies if already mentioned but Wilder is linked.

Would be a fantastic appointment for them, for him not so much.

Don't think their squad is anything special and certainly has weaknesses but it's not terrible. Lower midtable perhaps?

Don't see them as playoff contenders player wise but Wilder can get a lot out of a moderate amount of talent or some but not much financial resources.

Swansea ex player midfielder (forgot his name) recons they are massively in the shit and destined for relegation

Trundle? ?

They definitely do not have the squad for relegation. But I think with Swansea they miss that 20 goal a season striker and this is what has stopped them going up the last few years.

Can't see Wilder touching that sinking ship.

Is their squad that bad? Not saying it's top 6 pushing but...I've had a quick look anyway.

GK- Issue I'll grant you, Hamer or two young guys.

CB- Bennett, experienced Championship CB. Cabango, regular last season and only 21. Laitbeaudiere- England U20 CB but not much gametime.

Full Backs- RB, Roberts- Good player. Naughton getting on a bit but good backup. Manning and Bidwell a good competition at LB and indeed Manning can also play LM.

CM- Pretty useful range isn't it? Grimes, Fulton, Korey and Walsh. Dhanda seems to be a wide player and attacking midfielder. Routledge at 36 would only be of limited use tbh.

Forwards- Lacking here but Lowe is decent, can play wide too. Cullen, Garrick, Joseph, Piroe and Whittaker all pretty young or unknown quantities.

There's the nucleus of some useful players there but lack depth in many positions and have issues for sure up front. Doomed or sinking ship under the right management? Not so sure.

Remember too, the Championship a fair few clubs will have weakened this summer- sides have weakened notably due to lower budgets off the back of Covid- many have reduced quality, depth or both- Swansea of course one of them!

Think they could go down if they don’t get their appointment right. Grimes will be leaving, lost their best player (Roberts) until Christmas but could be longer with the state of his injury. Add to that they have alread lost their keeper, their best defender & their best striker due to loans/contracts ending.

Can see them ending up with Woodgate as manager if they don’t get Russell Martin. That won’t end well imo.

Surprised Eddie Howe hasn't been mentioned

Think he’s hoping the Brighton or Southampton jobs come available to him……so he is going to be out of work for a long time. Don’t think he is particularly great anyway.

He was earmarked as the next England manager but really needs to get back in the game soon as he will soon slip off the radar. Southampton could be a possibility in the future as they did fall away last season under the current manager.

Pretty sure they need to sell a few before deadline day.

Maybe it’s time there was a rule that you can’t poach another teams manager once the seasons started and have to appoint someone not in a job or promote from within instead

To lose a manager at this stage is ridiculous

Their fans are moaning that Swans have stolen their manager, MK stole a whole club once so sympathy is difficult for me to find on this occasion
