With JD and Cameron Pring, along with possibly Ryan Towler ahead of him, it makes sense.

He looked half decent from the limited viewings we saw and I wish him well.

I have been impressed with Cameron Pring this pre season. Good move all around IMO

Interesting.

Pearson said a while ago that he wanted to operate with a smaller squad & he certainly walks the walk.

Gregor said on Monday that there were 2 permanent departures in the pipeline regarding younger players, my hunch would be Morton but time will tell.

Strange one considering he started a few of the earlier friendlies ahead of pring

Isn’t that far more likely to be Pearson wanting to make the final decision himself?

Look at him & Pring in friendlies & then decide which one to keep?

Not on a free I hope? Like to think we’d have got a bit of money, for a young talented player.

Probably not, probably a sell on clause that might be slightly higher, if its a fee its minimal

Probably not much. The value we would hope would be in a sell on clause

Note. Bloke above hit send a fraction of a second before me!

I watched a handful of Walsall games last season and he looked pretty tidy and got a great cross on him, works very hard too. Didn't really stand out at league 2 level though but didn't play loads of games as I think he got injured. Still young and improving of course, and a year younger than Pring.

I'd say Nurse probably looks more of a specialist wing back more than a full back. Probably suits Cotts if they go back to wing backs. I think they usually do when Pierre is fit, left of the 3. Not sure if it was Pierre's injury problems that had Cotts changing systems a bit last season but I think Cotts will be looking to go back to wing backs. That will suit Nurse imo.

I always thought Pring was more likely to be Dasilva's back up, unless they surprise us and bring a new one in.

It's probably the right move. I don't think we need 3 left backs who are only left backs. We would hope the 3rd one would never get a game, as otherwise it would mean injuries. We have to back ourselves to keep players fit now.

A real shame Nurse was injured like Pring when recalled in January. Who knows if Nurse had stayed fit then maybe he's the one competing with Dasilva this season.

As it is I think it's the right decision.

If he was going anywhere glad to see he’s joined Cotts.

Good point and makes me think… there couldn’t be a better place for us to loan our prospects - they’ll get a great football education with Cotts and Wilbraham.

Very well may be!

shame we’ve lost him as I thought he looked a good player. I’m sure he’ll do well under cotts

Was tried to the left of Pring and then inside of Pring in the earlier friendlies.  Wonder if that was following a discussion with Cotts?

I just think that was because we had 3 left backs and only 3 centre backs available so Nige rotated them taking it in turns to play in the unfamiliar position of centre back as well as giving them minutes in their proper left back position.

Who knows you might be right, but i'd be surprised if Nurse is playing left of a back 3 for Shrewbury next season.

Obviously NP didnt like what he saw after playing him in 3 pre-season games

Or he was played so that Cotts could have a close look at him?

Bearing in mind 2 years left on contract, Cheltenham keen (missed out on Harper too whilst they waited), I suspect there’s a fee involved….albeit somewhere in the £50-100k plus percentage of any future deal.  Not like we would want him off the wage bill per se?
