Edit. I still don’t like him much, but have never met him so he could be a good bloke to have a beer with

No way would he have a beer. More likely one of those over the top cocktails that Del Boy used to drink!

Personally, I'd say the least likely of all of those would be option 3. I just can't see SL being happy with his CEO working for someone else when he should be concentrating 100 percent on Bristol City.

Given the tailspin that we found ourselves in last season, for MA to have had any part of his attention anywhere other than BCFC would no way have been allowed by SL either formally or informally. Surely . . .

“J.D” apparently, according to the interview that Pete quoted.

?
I’m picturing a Cliff Barnes type character swirling his ice around the class ?

Well fair play to him for avoiding the posh politician cliche.

You know the one, "look at me, man of the people with my shirt collar unbuttoned and 3/4s of a pint of bitter in front of me".

Companies House showed O'Leary registered as a director at Gamechanger20 on 23 July last year so that is the first documented evidence of Ashton's involvement with the Americans at ITFC even if that is by Proxy - i.e. O'Leary is his longstanding business associate.

Did he breach his fiduciary responsibility as a director at Bristol City? Cannot be proven unless there is the smoking gun of an email trail somewhere.

Was his heart in BCFC from last summer? I think not. I wonder when interviewing Cook as Holden's replacement IF he blew him out for us knowing that his credentials in lower leagues might help ITFC? Should he have had more of a grip on contractual matters ABSOLUTELY.

SL offering praise to MA for HPC is all a show to deflect from the naivety he and his son showed for not being on it.

Appleton in at Portman Road before the end of the month; ITFC have Lincoln away next I think

Great minds.  I was looking at CH last night and seeing if MA was now director at Ipswich, he is.  I had a look at Gamechanger quickly but didn’t check the year.

Mike O’Leary - West Brom, Oxford, Alicydon Ltd, Ipswich

Mark Ashton - ditto

As we know already.

There is no doubt that Mark Ashton took his eye off the ball here, and Steve Lansdown took his eye off of Mark Ashton.

And Jon Lansdown had his eye on a nice holiday home in the Bahamas...

It’s the perfect storm, everyone looking the other way and not at the problem. As a club we’re fortunate that we survived last season.

Posted previously I would like the Lansdowns to come out and give an explanation to the huge number of players who were out of contract last season. Whilst I agree it wasn’t bad to see these players move on from a wages perspective, but not to recoup anything for those players in a covid environment and a club that makes a financial loss yearly is neglect if they didn’t give the approval.

I get the impression that Appleton is tougher than people think. Do people really think he’d work with Ashton again? He has prior experience after all. Would he actually sell his soul to go to ITFC?

A well respected poster on here made a comment well over two/three years ago that Steve was unhappy with the influence and control that MA wielded at AG. I don’t know their source and can’t remember the exact time and context in which we were discussing MA but I thought at the time things weren’t as rosy behind the scenes as they were portrayed publically.

I agree.  Think he will’ve seen the light of working without Ashton.  He’d have come here last summer if so.

Seems like a lifetime ago he was getting virtual pats on the back for getting £20m for Webster.

The Ipswich takeover and his move there would of taken months and months of work. He didn't just jump ship at the last minute. In a year where the club needed to be stronger together, he's busy lining up his next venture.

I honestly don't know too much about Richard Gould but from what i have seen and heard so far he seems the polar opposite of MA, thankfully.

.....seriously you must have something better to do.

I know you support possibly the dullest football club in the entire history of football, but really.

Haven't you got a major trophy to not go and win?

I think we should ignore and ban you now.

TWTD always goes into meltdown after an adverse result.    Think monkeys at banana time then maybe half an hour or so it quietens down.    Provides some entertainment for others such a Pink 'Un Norwich messageboard.     I think they (our fans) get so caught up in what's going wrong and their spontaneous reaction/s  they don't always realise they're (sometimes) providing a stick with which to beat themselves.

Last night ?   Took off to a Casino in Canvey Island before the game was even underway,  piece of shit tournament really, and only got score when it was over.   I can't judge Cook on games like that, it were a senseless kickabout, no way were whatever side we put out going to give 100 per cent or really attempt a win.

We don't try in cup games, it's simple as that.   FA Cup, League Cup, Papa Smurf trophy like last night, it's custard and gravy to us.   Which leaves the league and even then we don't really get up to much.   We have Lincoln City at the weekend, they embarrassed us in front of a live audience on BBC television a couple of years ago in an FA Cup broadcast although it went to a replay.    They were non-league back then !

I think Cook's job is safe at least until the end of the year.   Results have been poor but he's only been with us a relatively short time.    Add to that he endured a family loss the last week.    Somehow don't think the new Yank owners are callous enough to wield the axe so soon after a bereavement.    Some insist it's only a matter of time before he and the team get it together and make it work.  Am prepared to allow it until December and then provide judgement.   If the problems and poor results have continued by then without much change then by all means do the right thing at bring someone else in.

I don't always see what Ashton gets up to, he would played a pivotal part in getting the new squad assembled and fans here (ITFC) view him in a favourable light up until now but can see will quickly build up the same level of ridicule and animosity at Ashton Gate when he left there if things do not improve over time.   By that i'd expect a play-off shot at least for end of season, but will Paul Cook even be manager by that time ?

TWTD wanted a Bristol City fan to explain, so I took the challenge.

I worry for your club, a club I like.

When I hear US investors saying their pension fund want PL football but there is still returns to be made in the Championship, it made me think back to the Venky’s at Blackburn, who didn’t know you could get relegated from the PL.  True Story - I know one a Financial Consultant who worked for them.  There is no money for a team to make in the Championship, unless you are returning as a relegated PL club on PPs.  That to me sounds like they’ve been sold a dream, not a reality.

Of course there is a dream of doing a Barnsley, a one off stellar season.

There is a dream of doing a Brentford, but Brentford had to go one step forward two steps back with player sales until such a point where they got a critical mass of good players together for a real-go at it….knowing the team would probably break up if they didn’t go up.

That is the risk.  Doing a Brentford with a stagnant transfer market is going to be a real challenge.

As I’ve said many times, Ashton isn’t the devil incarnate, but he portrays himself in a much better light than his performance and salary warrant.

If you now post with your graphs and charts illustrating what you’ve been saying, that should finish them off!  :)

Unfortunately TWTD is not as capability rich as OTIB.  But seeing as they’ve been looking me up on here, they have full access to all my factual stuff….if they want to really look at why I think like I do….and that I’m not winding them up….despite my poor choice of word “stirring”.

So, they ask for Bristol City fans to come on to their 1990s looking forum to explain why we don’t like Mark Ashton, you do just that (in a way that even they should be able to understand) and then they want to ban you?

Haha, **** them ?
