Olympics v Worlds

The main difference is the frequency, the olympics are on every 4 years, but the worlds are usually every 2 years.

Obviously the history behind the legacy of the olympics also means it has more meaning to the athletes and they will therefore train to peak for an olympics rather than anything else

Of course there is the publicity and coverage difference, as there are not as many athletes and events at the worlds

Same reason an FA cup win is better than a  league cup win. Prestige
