A Horse With No Name
Can someone please explain why winning an Olympic gold medal is any more prestigious, and worthy of national adulation than a World Championship gold, when exactly the same people from the same countries compete. Admin phantom Posted August 10, 2021 Admin Report Share Posted August 10, 2021 The main difference is the frequency, the olympics are on every 4 years, but the worlds are usually every 2 years. Obviously the history behind the legacy of the olympics also means it has more meaning to the athletes and they will therefore train to peak for an olympics rather than anything else Of course there is the publicity and coverage difference, as there are not as many athletes and events at the worlds

Same reason an FA cup win is better than a league cup win. Prestige
