Remembering Hav: The Official Middlesbrough Vs City matchday thread

Slowest front six in the championship.

Lucky if they get 15 goals plus between them.

Midfield 2 are not mobile enough.

Scott & Palmer in the same side is a mistake.

We have better players on the bench or not even in the squad.

No chance of anything other than a defeat.

We need a major rethink or we are in deep trouble

Can't see many goals in that team.

Certainly a lack of proven goalscorers, but I wouldn't be surprised if Alex Scott is capable of scoring some goals, just because he looks so bloody good at everything else. And Kasey has it in him to score, just needs to make more runs into the box.

Middlesbrough fans probably also wondering where their goals are coming from. I guess a good bet would be 0-0!

In a way we have creative players who can hopefully pass and move the ball at tempo.

Oh yeah, when was that then? You expecting us to pass Boro off the pitch then?

To do so you still need to move quickly - who's that then? - as well as pass accurately, multiple times - again, who's been doing that any time of late?

Full marks for optimism, I'll give you that.

Nige is clearly trying to establish a way of playing and to do so with a regular side.

We all know we need a centre forward but at moment Martin is the best we’ve got for that role in Nige’s view.  Wells is not the type of centre forward Nige wants.  He is also not a prolific goal scorer - av of 10 in last five seasons.  Interesting to see if Janneh makes an appearance.  My guess he will.

Take out the question of the centre forward, and, IMO, this has the makings of a decent Championship side, give it a few seasons and it could be a really good side.

We don’t know with Kalas what has gone on behind the scenes.  I trust Nige’s judgment.
