West Ham were a good side to watch last season and even without their famous loan player from Manchester this season they're just as enjoyable to view.

It's a great shame that Scott Davison and his colleagues chose to give the City job to Pulis at the turn of the century and not David Moyes.

Moyes was on holiday in America so wasn't available for interview (whether Preston would ever have given their permission is open to debate). In his absence, chairman John Laycock appointed his fellow gAsshole Tiny Pulis.

A real sliding doors moment, for sure.

That reminds me of an old proverb: man who walks side ways through sliding doors at airport is going to Bangkok.

According to the Ashton 8 book that "Green 'un" late of this parish helped put together, he was sat in a hotel room in the middle of Bristol when Pulis was appointed?

So glad for Moyes that he’s proved what a good manager he is. Was let down at Manure by the chief exec there and then didn’t get the time in Spain to sort out Real Sociadad

Bombed at Sunderland too, hated there

It’s like he’s found his second wind, having done very well as Everton manager in the dim and distant - seems a top geezer too - delivered food to those in need in Lancashire during the pandemic ... and he’s yet another top manager deemed not good enough for our club in the recent past by the wise sages ...

A clear example of how much time is required to turn around clubs that are in the sh1t. Sadly, very few managers get the time required. The West Ham owners (for all their other faults) realised the mistake in bowing to fan pressure. They got their man back and now look at them. Yes, the wheels could come off if they don't add a few players, but they no longer look like relegation fodder, very far from it.

Spot on - Hammers’ fans can at last dare to look up instead of over their shoulders and down ...

I think an athletic, strong and hardworking forward like Antonio is exactly what we need.

Chris Martin is fine, but he's not quite athletic or mobile enough to be exactly what we need. I think whilst the squad personnel is still evolving, we will need a forward who can press and defend from the front. Once Pearson has the personnel he wants, I suspect he will use a more typical 'on the shoulder' forward.

The way West Ham played last night is the way nige wants to play-high tempo, aggressive, pressing, physical 4-2-3-1

we need a right back, an Antonio type and a couple of pacey forwards to play behind the striker imo

Interestingly they didn't actually press too much in the first half.

They were very happy for Amartey and Soyuncu to have the ball and knock it between themselves. Once they got up to halfway they forced errors due to lack of forward options and Rice had an easy cut out numerous times.

It looked like they did to me, the pressing trigger was as soon as the CBs tried to play it out wide to the full backs or to midfielder coming short. Very tactically astute from Moyes.

Did "a Leicester" on Leicester ...  albeit, Leicester are a bit more front foot now under Rodgers.
