Thought for the day

Not really a thought - the RSPB have just sent me an e-mail with a link to this clever piece by Bristolians, Aardman Animations, to which I also attach a link.

Don't panic - I'm not touting for donations to the RSPB in City fans' wills! But it is thought provoking, rather beautiful and - like the Spice Girls - best watched with the volume turned down!

Enjoy if it's your sort of thing (and if the link works - I've not attached one to an OTIB post before......)

In Denmark, there are libraries where you can borrow a person instead of a book to listen to their life story for 30 minutes.  The aim is to fight against prejudices.  Each person has a title - "unemployed", "refugee", "bipolar", etc.  - but by listening to their story, you realise how much you shouldn't "judge a book by its cover".  This innovative and brilliant project is active in more than 50 countries.  It's called "The Human Library".

What a great idea.

“Today was a Difficult Day," said Pooh.

“Do you want to talk about it?” asked Piglet.

“No,” said Pooh after a bit. “No, I don’t think I do.”

“That’s okay,” said Piglet, and he came and sat beside his friend.

“What are you doing?” asked Pooh.

"Nothing, really," said Piglet. "Only, I know what Difficult Days are like. I quite often don't feel like talking about it on my Difficult Days either.

"But goodness," continued Piglet, "Difficult Days are so much easier when you know you've got someone there for you. And I'll always be here for you, Pooh."

And as Pooh sat there, working through in his head his Difficult Day,… he thought that his best friend had never been more right."
