Any team without Gerry Gow is plain wrong. Also any team without John Atyeo is wronger

On that basis and using the best day theory and weighted for international appearances and division played

352/3412

Shaw

Sweeney

Collier

Merrick

Tinnion

Tainton

Gow

Ritchie

Whitehead

Atyeo

Cheesley

Subs Mann Bentley Murray Wedlock Taylor Spiring Cole

Im shoehorning Tom behind Atyeo and the Cheese, but I like it!

Edit even I’m not old enough for Wedlock really!

                        Basso

Sweeny  Hunter, Merrick  Cooper

Whitehead Gow Tainton Tinnion

              Cole   Cheesley

Chosen because they all played at the highest level except Basso and Tinnion.

Didn't really see Atyeo and loads left out that should be in.

Nicky Hunt gets stick but Micgivern is right up there as the worst player I've seen in a city shirt. Genuinely like he had been picked up off the Downs ******* dreadful.

You never experienced a Brian Mitchell pass back? Or the dread of watching Gus Caesar?

Amazed how few times Gary Shelton has been picked

I went for Gow and Tinnion….Shelts was quality though, just a tough call.  I had to have Walsh on LW, so Tins LCM, I’m not sure Dave Smith has had one mention.  That’s a travesty too.

Got some great team's in there here's mine.

                     Basso

Amankwaah webster flint bell

            Tinnion brownhill

                     Noble

  Abraham   goater  maynard

Bench: bryan, reid, akinbiyi, shaun taylor, hartley, adomah and jet.

Very attacking but had to get the attackers in there.

Dave Smith was insanely quick, but his end product....Imagine a Dave Smith - Alan Walsh hybrid (given one replaced the other): Smith's pace and agility, Walsh's left foot and cunning.

Just...crumbs.

   3-5-2             Heaton

            Carey      Flint       Webster
Murray                                                Bell
                   Hartley    Tinnion
                             Noble

                  Reid              JET

Subs: Bentley, Bryan, Ayling, Korey Smith, Adomah, Wilbraham, Maynard.

A similar setup to how we were when I first started watching City in the early Danny Wilson period (between 2000 and 2002) with much better ball playing midfielders to go with Tinnion's quality and some bite in the tackle with Hartley. Carey being able to handle right hand side of the defence and Bell being an excellent goalscoring wing back. Murray would be more advanced than it appears in this formation and could easily be switched to a 442 with Carey being handy at right back in this period. It would be an exciting footballing team with a lot of flexibility and players enterchanging with each other.
