Kid in the Riot
Forgotten about the cricket already. What a talent. A lot of British women tennis players have burst onto the scene over the past 10, even 20 years. But then faded due to injuries or loss of form. Can't see it with this girl. QF of a Slam after qualifying? And demolishing all in front of her with comparative ease. I think her ceiling is higher than any British girl I've seen. What a run, and it's a winnable QF too...
elhombrecito
Three matches in qualifying. Four main draw matches. And not a single set lost. The last two matches have been incredible and dominating performances. The world is truly her oyster.

She's no right to have come this far as a qualifier. Sensing she won't need to qualify for next year's Slams, that's for sure...

So you think Boris Johnson is relevant to a thread about Emma Raducanu? You really are a special case on this forum.

You think it is relevant that somebody was born in a different country even though they moved here as a very young child. I used an example of somebody else that was born abroad and moved here as a very young child. Edited September 7, 2021 by BS2 Red

BS2 Red
Anyway, on topic, it's exciting to see a British lady coming through. We waited a very long time for a man that could win grand slams, it's been a very very long time since Virginia Wade!

PHILINFRANCE
8 hours ago, OneTeamInBristol said: Shame she's Canadian. Unless I am mistaken, you have yet to answer @Super's question as to why it's a 'shame she's Canadian' - which, incidentally, I don't consider to be correct in any event, as, whilst she may have been born in Canada, she has Romanian and Chinese parents, came to the UK when she was two years old and, presumably, holds a British passport. Nevertheless, whilst I can understand somebody saying it's a shame that, e.g. Andy Murray is Scottish, as, for purely egotistical reasons, I would far rather he was English, preferably born in Bristol, the son of one of my neighbours and used to play tennis with me in our local park when he was a young boy: I taught him all he knows about tennis, if you like. In reality, however, whilst the reason for my disappointment is lighthearted, I suspect that your reason may have darker overtones.
