Luton Town home match-day thread

A good dose of glyphosate applied on the green shoots tonight.

Only HNM emerges with credit from that one.

I’m a believer in Nige, but that was as bad as the worst performances of last season. It looked like the team had been told just before kick-off that they were all going to be made redundant. No spark, desire, leaden-footed and totally disjointed. Poor effort that.

We must do better.

Starting to become, if it was not already, a psychological problem.

The record at the new Ashton Gate is frankly abysmal.

Too nice a place for away fans and teams, not enough vitriol or demand from our own fans.

It will be 16 without a win by the time Bournemouth leave our carpet of a surface with a smile on their faces.

If we had taken all three points tonight it would have been a brave man to argue that we fully deserved them. Despite the marginal improvement in the second half, overall we should have been 3 or 4 down in the first.

So many problems across the pitch its impossible to tell where to start putting things right.

At times Kalas and Atkinson played like they were total strangers. Baker (despite the goal) and Vyner provide almost no decent threat from wide positions and struggle to get back.

Martin looked a yard too slow tonight and the remainder of the attack ran around without producing any real threat.

Who wants to start the thread discussing how critical the Jan transfer window is?

We have mediocrity stamped all over the club and right now, it simply isn't good enough.

Wells was up front?

I missed the start of the second half and I genuinely only noticed he was playing at about the 60 min mark, and I’m not sure what he did other than receive one pass.

Another ridiculous result. How we didn't put that to bed is beyond me.

Frustrating to say the very least!

I think you'll find that will be, verbatim, the Luton manager's post match comments.

Which keeper was making all the saves?

We were dreadful tonight and barely deserved a point. 0/10 for entertainment, lacked energy and the usual absence of control and any sort of quality.

I'm not saying he was dynamic Samo but he wasn't playing up front, that was my point pal.

At some point quite soon we are going to get spanked. Luton should have been out of sight. Wells offered zip up front, at least Jay was good second half. Another turgid season folks.

Fulham next at home, could be the one

At some point the spotlight has to turn to Nige, because this is reflecting his last one maybe two roles. We are showing very little if any progress, the same problems exist

Look at the squad . This reflects our recruitment not Pearson.  If you cannot see progress over the pile of poo he inherited you are being ridiculous. It is far from sorted but you are not understanding what a mess our club was in.  If only the real truth could be told. That Pearson even wanted to stick around is a miracle . If you think there is any manager of ability that wanted to touch our mess you are deluded . City fans ignorance is astounding.

Atkinson had him blocked off but had to kind of slow down and just keep his arm out so he didn't collide with Bentley. Obviously the Luton player didn't mind colliding with Bentley so kept going. He gets to it as Bentley looked a hesitant. Cross might have deflected off of Atkinson who tried to block and it goes right into the Luton players path.

2nd shocking injury time goal from a winning position this season.

It really was such a poor performance tonight. Worst so far this season. We got away with it against Preston too in gaining a point when not creating anything in open play and Preston missing numerous opportunities.

Think Luton’s 3 chances in 30 seconds flattered them and have been extrapolated out to us being badly beaten/not deserving anything. They didn’t create much 2nd half (nor did we) and don’t think we sat back as we have in the past with a lead, we just didn’t offer much going forward. Not the worst performance I’ve ever seen, but does seem as if getting 2 or 3 ahead is the likely route to our next home win and we struggle to break teams down and create decent chances at home. All my eggs are in the Conway basket, so maybe early Feb we’ll be up and running…

Bentley’s a classic keeper at this level, some things he does are Prem standard, but he’s not Prem for a reason, in the same way the rest of the team aren’t.
