Offside
In the past, whenever City have played away against a team with white shorts we have worn all red (or red and black in the Div 1 days). This season at Reading and QPR we wore white shorts. Has there been a rule change regarding teams wearing the same colour shorts?
LondonBristolian
I have no idea of the answer but am glad I was not the only one wondering this mid-game!
SecretSam
Funnily enough, I wondered about that yesterday. Plus a lot of the QPR fans were wearing an away kit that was a dead ringer for our promotion kit of 2014/
elhombrecito
Looks to be a slight change this year...
A Horse With No Name
I wondered this earlier in the day watching Hull v Sheffield Utd when both teams had black shorts.
The turtle
It's probably a mis conception, but I've always understood the first thing a pro player sees is socks. And then the shirt. The shorts is/was more for TV.

When you scan you scan the pitch and the way of accumulating the most information is not looking downwards. Peripheral vision also sees shirt first. Going off at a tangent. A light coloured kit that contains a large segement of black draws the eye towards it more than a dark coloured kit.
The turtle
This is true... But there is the part before you scan the pitch. Those moments in tight areas of the pitch with split seconds to make a decision. Etc etc You are probably correct, tbh I've always doubted it, just always been led to believe pros would find it massively difficult in the same socks. handsofclay
Herbert Chapman introduced hooped socks for Arsenal in the early 1930s as he contended that they caught the eye quicker than plain socks when players were looking down at the ball and pitch. Obviously, with Arsenal's success this caught on so virtually every team in the land sported hooped socks and the advantage was thus lost.
