This squad leave EVERYTHING on the pitch

Totally agree.

The difference from last season to this is black and white.

I really like what NP is doing with the team. He might not have all the players he wants or needs yet but he's got the ones he has trying to play his way.

We are a tough side to play against. There's a great mentality in the side now. Battlers, the lot of them.

I just think he was overawed by their number 12

The not sending off the 12 (Chalobah) for his second tackle affected the game massively. Silva had to take him off half time as one more foul and he was gone, and the quicker of foot/thought Harrison Reed was very effective second half and provided a lot of impetus to their goal.

But Fulham should never had opportunity to make that sub

100%.

What the **** was the linesman in front of the Dolman doing, too?

Should have paid if he was just going to watch the game.

That was a good point gained against a much better side. It was secured through hard work and determination.

Considering the mess that the club has made of development on the pitch over recent years - I type this as I'm watching Brentford v Liverpool with great admiration and envy of the former - it's a fabulous point won today.

Let's hope the footballing people at our club are backed and left alone to continue the progress.

Bang on. They are clearly playing for Pearson and the club. Yes the home form needs to improve but we are such a hard side to beat now. The commitment is first class and I’ve not seen a City side leave everything on the pitch week in week out like this since the double winning side.

In his post match interview Nige commented on the improving "togetherness" of the squad.

I think he was trying to avoid pointing the finger at anyone in particular when he said it was a lot better than he'd seen previously when he'd come here as a manager and as a player.

It's clear that if the team isn't motivated to work individually and then motivated to work for the team then it doesn't matter how much talent we have, we'll not get to see it.

The best managers can make something more than the sum of its parts. I think Nige is getting an ever improving performance out of what he has and, I look forward to the January transfer window with some confidence that we will add 1 or 2 significant signings to take us forward again.

The ship is now in good shape, time to make her Bristol fashion.

Great to see.

I’ve got no worries about this squad going to Millwall away in midweek, because you know what we’re going to get. I certainly didn’t feel like that last season.

Committed, proactive, never say die attitude and at the right times decent quality.

Long may it continue.

There are other similar quotes which refer to leaving nothing on the field rather than ‘everything’ but either way, professional, very well-paid athletes representing our club giving everything they’ve got in every game - that should be a given, the first line on their job description - these guys are earning upwards of £500k a year - giving their all in every game is the minimum we should expect - although I totally respect your decision to “****ing love them for it” ...

I think the point is there is nothing more they can do which is all we can ask and hasn't been the feeling we have had from the squad in the last few years.

What would it take for you to "****ing love them"?

I think it’s disgusting if we’ve had squad members in the last few years not giving their all in every match they are asked to play wearing our shirt, regardless of individual abilities ... as I said in my post, to which you replied, giving their all in every game should be a given, the first line on the job description - it’s non-negotiable because we are playing them huge, huge amounts of money to be professional footballers. And as you brought it up - which squad members do you think haven’t given their all in every match in the last few years?

I notice you put speech marks around “****ing love them” but it wasn’t me that introduced that phrase into this thread, it was ‘Silvio Dante’ - however, I’ll try to answer your question - “what would it take for me to ****ing love them?” - well, I just want a group of guys wearing our shirt who ‘get’ our club, who would put in the effort of a Glyn Riley or a Gerry Gow every single game remembering that those guys, and their ilk, earned pretty meagre salaries compared to today’s players.

I want Bristol City players who would burst into tears when missing a vital penalty because they know how much it means to the fans - Gordon Owen did this when I was the first one to get to him on the pitch after the final whistle after he missed that spot kick versus Swindon - I want our chaps to show the sheer, raw, unbridled passion for our club that Terry Cooper constantly demonstrated - I want players to show just as much desire to win and love for the club that we prompted from loanees such as Colin Gordon and Matt Smith - I want players to want to emulate the ‘one of our own’ qualities of Andy Llewellyn, Rob Newman, Louis Carey etc - and yes I know Biff was from Bradford on Avon but to me he will always be one of us - I want non-Bristolians who represent our club to feel as much pride about Bristol City as Scotty Murray obviously does and I want those with limited ability to put in as much effort as Jon Stead did in every game.

Yep, I know I probably live in cloud cuckoo land given the mindset of more modern footballers - and it’s sometimes better living there than in the real world - but I continue to live in hope that footballers wearing a Bristol City shirt will reflect the ambitions, expectations and dreams of people like me; people who can only pay good money to watch them but can’t really influence their inherent, in-built attitudes to their ‘job’ and their work ethic towards that ‘job’ - and those players who give every ounce of sweat and effort to reflect our ambitions, expectations and dreams while demonstrating their passion for, and commitment to, our club? Well, I will “****ing love them” ...

It all boils down to ‘ What does pulling on a Bristol City shirt mean to a player? ‘

Wearing the colours of famous, successful clubs would , I assume, carry more weight for more players.
So therefore we have to find a way to value the shirt and I think that NP is going about that very nicely indeed.
It should be a an honour, earned, to play for our club , some players understand it others pass through anonymously.

It should be a pre-requisite tbh, but it clearly hasn't been applied or applied consistently in the last couple of seasons. By which I mena we've seen it at times but not enough, but it should be a given in every single game.

The signs so far are very encouraging in this regard, amongst other things.

I want away sides and supporters to be wary of coming to the Gate, knowing they're in for a hard time. Like it used to be I suppose.

The feeling that we're a soft touch really grates, especially last year.

We're getting there!

Hear hear.  Saturday felt like some kind of turning point to me in that regard - a real feeling of togetherness on the pitch and a crowd who understood in the main part of what is going on in terms of rebuild and how much a result like that may mean going forwards. Felt like a victory at the end and although some may see that as ‘tin pot’ I think it shows where we currently are.  Exciting times ahead indeed.

Not tin pot at all.

From the appalling end to last season, during which I think many/most fans were sceptical that Pearson could stop the rot, let alone turn things around, I do think that gradually more and more fans are getting that it will take time to get where we want, but that Pearson has a plan to get us there and we are now seeing signs of improvement and us moving forwards on the pitch.

In particular, I think that fans are starting to see the effect on the players, in terms of attitude, effort and application and that this is proof that they ( the players)  have trust and confidence in the manager, what he is trying to achieve and how he is going about it.

Accordingly, everyone of us knows that last season Fulham would probably have been out of sight once the scored the opener, The fact that we didn't cave in, but kept at it to produce an equaliser, was further evidence of continuing progress - a small victory if you like, but a victory all the same - especially against a team with superior resources, both financially and in terms of player quality across the pitch.

After the setbacks suffered over the last couple of seasons, I think we are entitled to enjoy every victory along the way to getting back on track.

For real “tin pot” see below...
