Chants from the past

I’m not as old as some, so my most prominent memories are being an ST holder when the East End was reopened. Used to love when the east end would sing I am a cider drinker in full from start to finish

Ive missed away games so much through the pandemic, hoping to get to millwall this week as it’s local for me

Ohhhhhhh the dooby dooby do!! That was an absolute classic in the 80’s & 90’s.

The fact that so many of our decent players  don’t even have a song is really poor though. The next generation of the East End really need to up their game from the constant Jay Dasilva & HNM efforts.

Im thinking Kalas, Martin & James in particular should have recognisable chants by now.

Would love to hear the Baker song more often aswell.

I think I heard ‘Oh Robert Atkinson’ on Saturday which has potential though to be fair.

C’mon you Reds. ?

image.thumb.png.cd67c219bf3ca5c864f392fa093da494.pngI was 14….remember piling into the back of my next door neighbour’s van to get there.  Wasn’t with my dad, hence I learned the rude song!

Crikey! I can remember that as a classic, end to end Boxing Day derby.

And I would have finished that sentence with - in front of a big Ashton Gate crowd- but only 10k. Shows how times have changed.

You'd get a lifetime ban for this one now, but remember this being sang in the home game vs Liverpool in 1993 (to the tune of Robin Hood) - Ian Rush, Ian Rush riding through the glen, Ian Rush, Ian Rush having sex with men, bent as a cu next tuesday, he takes it up the bum, Ian Rush, Ian Rush, Ian Rush!

During my home and away days during the early to mid 2000s, EVERY first-teamer had their own song and when the players ran out pre-match you’d go through the entire XI and get a clap.

Mad that now our record signing doesn’t even have a song after three years with us!

Chap who started that was one of the Legends Scooter mates a part of Ingerlund away for years.

Croatia away.

Over the tannoy came the familiar "When the mooon shines on the Cowshed and were rollin in the hay ...".

Chap had got hold of the mike.

Locked himself in a booth with the PA system waving at his mates and wasn't coming out till he finished.

Escorted out the ground.

There is only ever one right answer to this.

Doobie-Doobie-Doo

Ba-Doobie-Doobie-Doo

Ba- Doobie-Doobie-Dum-Dum

Doobie-Doobie-Dum-Dum

Doobie-Doobie-Dum-Dum-Dum

To be honest, I’m amazed that this wasn’t mentioned until the second page.

The wife of Stan Bowles had left him in the week and it was in the tabloids. QPR were at Ashton Gate that Saturday. The East End kept singing 'Where's your wife gone, Where's your wife gone, Where's your wife gone Stanley Bowles?'

He came up for a QPR corner at the East End and it was sung at him again. Bowles looked at the East End and shrugged his shoulders in response. Brilliant.

Absolutely fabulous to be reminded of all these songs that's been around since the 70's, I think the Chris Crowe song was still sung long after he left into the 70's.

One not mentioned yet 'I can't read, I can't write, but that don't seem to matter, I come up from Somerset and I can drive a Tractor. Class!!

Sat next to a fella yesterday who wasn’t too keen on the quality of the songs at the Gate these days and  it got me thinking of the chants of old . All time classics such as “ you’re gonna get your ******* heads kicked in” and “ you’ll never take the East End “ remind me of my formative years in the East End . My all time fav being the one about eating a dead cat from a dustbin , I just wondered what other little ditties are most missed from yester year ? Many for various reasons clearly won’t have aged well but just thought I’d throw the question out there !

There used to be one that started "Pull, pull, pull a trigger" I'm not sure that one is particularly missed.
