Chap who started that was one of the Legends Scooter mates a part of Ingerlund away for years.

Croatia away.

Over the tannoy came the familiar "When the mooon shines on the Cowshed and were rollin in the hay ...".

Chap had got hold of the mike.

Locked himself in a booth with the PA system waving at his mates and wasn't coming out till he finished.

Escorted out the ground.

That's brilliant

Really enjoyed those years in the East End, used to just go along on my own but you didn't feel like you were there on your own once you got in the stand. I've been to a lot of games as a neautral and not seen many home atmospheres like that in the modern era

To the tune of "She'll be coming round the mountain":

We'll be running round the Trumpton* with our willies hanging out.
We'll be running round the Trumpton* with our willies hanging out.
We'll be running round the Trumpton*, running round the Trumpton*, running round the Trumpton* with our willies hanging out.
Singing I've got a bigger one than you (ooh ah).
I've got a bigger one than you (ooh ah).
I've got a bigger one, I've got a bigger one, I've got a bigger one than you (ooh ah).

* or some other Sag shitehole

This thread just reminds me how rubbish some of today's chants are, that one about "Every where we go"  should be banned sounds like a bunch of hooray henry's attending a rugby match.

Much prefer to hear that  old school chant to the tune of Bless Em all which carried a bit of venom.

I remember that.  Came at about the same time as:

”Who are they looking for?  Harry Roberts!”

…as the police tried to catch the gangster who killed two policemen in a shootout in London.  He was released in 2014 after serving 48 years.

Your father is your brother,

Your sister is your mother,

You only sh@g each other

In a Walsall family

Chanting at the bottom of the ladder.

Shit your pants.

Then we got you surrounded!

Some said he was gas, others swindon.

We (in the enclosure) used to shout, as he ascended the ladder, "Rodger, wave.............now, BOTH hands "! Never ceased to amuse .

On the subject of Dixon of Dock Green (I used to love Jack Warner in that Saturday evening series) I recall what seemed to be most of the East End whistling or humming the theme tune whenever Police officers would walk along the track in front of us - also humming the Z Cars theme tune (anybody remember the Ford Zephyr in the opening credits?). I believe Everton still play this tune at Goodison when the teams come out.

Around about the same time (1970s) there was a particularly officious Police officer with a very large, bushy moustache, who also used to parade in front of the East End and would look apoplectic with red-faced fury when we used to chant the name of a popular children's TV programme - Catweazle! Catweazle la la la ?.

Still on the subject of the Police, there was an extremely unpleasant song sang in relation to the afore-mentioned Harry Roberts, to the tune of London Bridge is Burning Down:

Harry Roberts is our friend, is our friend, is our friend

Harry Roberts is our friend

He shoots Coppers

As I said, very unpleasant.

Changing from anti-Police songs to (mildly) homophobic ditties, we also used to sing:

You can put Alan Warboys on the top of a Christmas tree

You can put Alan Warboys on the top of a Christmas tree

You can put Alan Warboys on the top of a Christmas tree

And this is what we'll sing

Alan Warboys is a fairy, la la la

All quite pathetic looking back....

Gert Moller was a Dutch winger signed by Alan Dicks when we were in the old first division.

When it's spring again, I'll drink again, Gerty from Amsterdam.

The only song made up by me that seems to be remembered by others!

Surprising it's got a couple of mentions in the thread though because as far as I remember it was only sung by our group in the open bit of the EE - maybe at 1 away match too - and he wasn't with us long.

The full version:

When it's Spring again, we'll sing again

Gertie from Amsterdam!

When he's on the wing, we'll start to sing

Gertie from Amsterdam!

That was about it I think - corker isn't it!?

Thanks for that.

Do you know, this is something that has been bugging me for years.

I have never had the fortune to go to Goodison Park, but I was convinced I had heard the Z Cars theme played on the tannoy at the start of a match somewhere - I just couldn't remember where, and now I know!

My other claim to fame in the song writing stakes, mid 70's.

To the tune of 'The sun has got his hat on.'

Don Megson's got his bra on,

Hip, hip, hip, hooray!

Don Megson's got his bra on,

And he's coming out today!

Not sure that one really caught on! :laugh:

Well, that just goes to show the advantages of a grammar school education, especially English Lit. ?

I was posting this as you were posting your Don Megson ditty, so I think I rest my case.

I seem to remember the word starting with a C,  but it wasn't Copper.

Also remember, to the yellow submarine tune......

We all piss in a blue and white pot,

A blue and white pot,

A blue and white pot.

(Repeat as many times as you like)

Easy winner - Tom Thumb song

Sung at many away games especially. Remember being at Bolton away promotion year early doors in a big pub prematch, circa 250 City in there and absolutely booming out that song for ages. It was our way of letting Bolton know where we were.
They found us!!!

Didnt end well for them too....

we sang that in the EE in the early 60's so the C word may have come later !!

Ha, ha Phil, as I got ever more interested (fanatically!) in City, so I became less interested in my education.

City's promotion season 75/76 - and all that time obsessing about City, and following the club home & away - corresponding with my A' levels year didn't exactly help my time spent revising, or my results.

Never mind, wouldn't have missed that City era for the world, great times - and the only blokes I still know from schooldays (all in the year above me) I first became friends with through a shared love of City and going to away matches with them in the 70's.
