I REALLY hope Michael Flynn opens a burger joint by the Hippodrome and offers a 99p meal deal

Still remember my mate finding a £20 note on the floor whilst in the queue….so we went and had a curry instead.

I think this deserves its own thread for us all to share our stories and experiences of the burger joint … hard to believe it was there at all… surely a plaque to commemorate it is needed !!

Is that the one before it was closed was called the great British hamburger? And everything was served on plates

The que for xmas steps chippy in the 90s at dinnertime.

Whatever time you went there, was 20 deep.

I think theres still a wimpy in cardiff, that could be the dealbreaker.

There's a Wimpy in Colchester. Been with my wife 15 years and whenever we've been in the town visiting her family, we've never once stepped in there!

Schwartz Brothers on Gloucester Rd was the best in Bristol in the 80s. Mind you, there weren't many in those days. They did a blue cheese Source which was as good as their barbecue version. I left Bristol in 1994. Is it still there?

I don't know about Gloucester Road, but I remember having a burger from Schwartz Bros. in Bath a few years ago: it sticks in my mind because I was surprised at the Germanic name of the restaurant - I assume they must be connected as it would surely be a huge coincidence if not.

A propos coincidences; I also had the blue cheese version, with loads of red onion.

I also remember it being expensive - almost £10 for a (very nice, to be fair) burger and chips.

I believe they are an American chain, but the Bath outlets are now owned by their UK managers.

The two places in Bath are still there 😋, the blue cheese burger is to die for, especially after a few pints at the weird Star Inn almost opposite before the long cycle ride back along the B2B track to home.

Schwartz Bros was the best. Cheeseburger or Mayo-mustard (discontinued). Back in the 80s, the blokes who worked in the Bath, Sawclose branch were really hot!

Standing by a lit grill wearing a paper hat all day will have that effect.

Years back, there was some sort of hot-dog seller on Corn Street, some bloke in a straw boater hat wearing what looked to be a butchers apron.

Always had 2 or 3 different types of sausages available.

Wonder what happened to him?

I heard he started to sell German sausages. Consequently he had the best of months and the wurst

The Sausage Man in St Nick's Market used to be a great lunchtime treat. The Pork & Black Pudding Sausages with Dauphinoise, Onions & Mustard was truly a thing of utter beauty.
