He's a useful Championship striker who needs managing carefully so as not to be overworked and run into the ground, which admittedly is easier said than done with our resources up front. Are you describing Fammy or Martin there

His strengths are holding the ball and laying it off to midfield players. Unfortunately, we’ve got a lot of midfield players who hardly ever score and don’t run into attacking positions to take advantage of his positional play. Williams??... He's on the way.. I'm looking forwards to watching him 100% fit.

Goal contribution every 2 games so far this season. Not bad for a ‘Shit’ near-34 year old striker who’s returned from a serious injury! Objectively (and less divisive!) I would say the truth is more likely that he started the season well, had a few below par games and then today was (for me, a recent critic) man of the match. italian dave
Thought he had an average first half. Didn’t impose himself enough, I felt. Better second half, then I thought he looked like he was tiring. And next thing he was like a man possessed for 10 minutes. No idea where that came from, but great to see! I think Weimann had another quiet game. I wonder if Wells gets back in up top with Martin when he is back. Please get Wells in and that fraud weimann out. Enough. he is a nothing a shirt ,a player that gets in the way ,he has tons of energy yes but but its usually in the wrong place and I feel we can get a much. Better fit in our team than the undroppable weimann.never heard him mentioned on commentary today and many commterys before there are a lot of those days. Commitment yes energy yes but scores a couple.now and again but for me is a player that's finished. Doesn't fit anywhere in the side ,not a forward not a winger he offeres Nil apart from energy ..dissappears constantly, I feel we just accommodated him in team due to his running which on the eye looks good but achieve minimal for team.for me he is a great runner and battler but a non producer in the bigger picture..I would be looking to bring in someone to replace him ASAP. We carry him most games. In my opinion. Always felt this way. ⁸ 1

Said in the week that Martin needs midfield runners around him. Last couple of games, James has had to babysit Bakinson (bit harsh, but it’s constrained him) and today with a quiet King alongside him we saw James getting around the box into shooting positions…in fact it was him laying off to Martin for Tanner’s goal.
Mr Popodopolous
We have 3 strikers who bring different strengths and weaknesses to the side. 4 in fact what with Semenyo when he's fit again. Some games Wells will be preferable to Martin. Some games you might have Semenyo and Weimann in wider roles and Martin or Wells central, other games might be Weimann central as the '1', 3-5-2/4-4-1-1...Wells or Martin dependent on various factors. Talking of Martin, despite his strong start he will still need managing carefully moving forward IMO. Not quite wrapping up in cotton wool but a good mix of rest and conditioning in the next fortnight, the International break.

Port Said Red
He seems to have an amazing ability to read the flight of the ball, I am constantly amazed at how many times he wins a ball in the air without jumping for it. That gives him such a firm base in a challenge it helps him hold off much bigger players.

DT The Optimist
It’s interesting that Darren Ferguson also thought he was good. He stated he was a handful throughout, and he had that quality and caused them problems. (His comments on the equivalent of our Bristol live) when someone of his pedigree says that you have to suspect it’s right. (Not going off topic but always surprised he has not done more as a manager) However with Saturday, midweek, Saturday there’s no way he could last a full season, bound to come out at some stage.. That’ll do It doesn’t matter if there is only one midfielder who doesn’t score often, but it does matter if the entire midfield is bereft of goals, which was the point I was making. To be successful a team can’t just have a couple of good forwards. Most of the other players must chip in with a few goals here or there. That isn’t going to happen with the current crop of midfielders, good as they are. Joe Williams - 2 league goals in 102 appearances H N M - 2 in 78 James - 10 in 78 Semenyo - 8 in 93 (only 2 at Championship level) The best, in terms of scoring are Weimann with 57 in 335, though a lot have come when he’s played as a forward, and O’Dowda with 57 in 335 There has been a lot of talk about the need to sign a 20 goals per season. We do, but we also need to sign a goal scoring midfielder. Put this new player with Williams, HNM, and James and we’d have a good midfield
