Agree about Newcastle, fantastic city.

However; there are many more grim places up north to take their place, Leeds, Sheffield, Blackburn, Burnley, Bolton to name just a few.

Leeds is quite a lively city, big commercial and law hub in the North so unsure about that- Sheffield quite a decent city when I went 10 years ago, mind you not been to either for some time.

There are though plenty of places up north that have seen better days of course, but unsure that Leeds and to an extent Sheffield would be high up that list.

Who do we copy, though? We have to copy someone (getting it right). Steve has referenced Norwich (can see us copying them in the Prem, were we ever to get there) and Burnley. It's not like Steve's going to bring an original or unique approach to all this, or come up with an idea that works that no-one has previously thought of or implemented successfully.

We need to copy someone. Who is it to be?

Pre American owners Burnley, probably.

Highly likely our style (competitive, hard working) will be more like theirs than others mentioned.

We’ve had Reading, Swansea, Bournemouth all mentioned in the past, too.

Think Pearson is really who drives this now, so the model closest to his preference seems the likeliest.

I was talking to a work colleague about this today as he has been to every Watford home game this season and he said he’s not surprised. While 7 points in 7 games is a solid start, the team has no plan or tactical idea of what to do and if they go a goal down it’s panic stations. They rely so heavily on Sarr but teams just stick two on him and then it’s down to Josh King and one or two others to break down a prem defence.

All the Watford owners have done is say to a manager you get 15 games. Improve us or you’re out. If they do well, they get another 15 games or to the end of the season. Why would they give a manager 3 years if they get them relegated? It’s a plan that could blow up in their face, but if they keep ticking over they may eventually find a manager that pushes them to the next level.
