Thought the guy come across really well in the article tbh

As much as someone who likes to try and beat up people in the name of a team that kicks a round object around can do, yeah

”I might well kick a black guys head in but it’s because of the football team he supports not the colour of his skin!”

Hand out the Nobel peace prize now

Tbh I don’t see the problem if two groups of people from different clubs want to fight let them get on with it as long as innocents don’t get hurt what’s the issue

Not quite sure why a bunch of thugs are being legitimised in this way.

Its a bit strange. I assume it's because the Bristol post need page hits and people are still interested in football violence.

Would any of us have clicked on it if it was just random bloke who isn't racist talks about protecting the cenotaph?

Not that I care for this type of thing but the Gas must hate this type of thing - the article must have said how long we have been bigger than them for about 4 times.

Who gives a sh!t what the csf think

also

“However we don’t condone the violence and vandalism that led to the removal of the statue and would have preferred and supported the removal of it by a democratic process, if that is what it would have delivered should any such process have taken place,” he added.”

The issue is that those of us who don’t go in for that nonsense are massively inconvenienced because all football fans are tarred with the same brush.

So we are subject to unreasonable kickoff times, police escorts to and from stadia for what is supposed to be a leisure activity, restrictions on where and when we can consume alcohol and so on.

Besides, no matter how much hooligan groups will argue until they are blue in the face that they are only interested in trading blows with like-minded people from rival mobs, they do seem to have memory lapses about that code of honour regularly and beat up rival fans who aren’t hooligans instead.

Good post and having witnessed hooliganism from the late 70's onwards football was often scary and innocent  fans were often caught up in cowardly attacks even though they weren't a threat to anybody and wear the clubs colours.

If you read the article in its entirety and put aside pre conceived opinions of the CSF it’s a well balanced interview which puts A&S police in a poor light and the source of some of the misinformed reported right wing slurs made against those that were protecting the cenotaph

Did you think it was legitimate for the police to label these individuals far-right/right wing?

Do you think it is legitimate that left wing groups have been perpetuating the same lie and also describing BCFC fans as notoriously racist?

I know Steve. He is many things, but one thing he has never been is a evil far-right racist and fascist.

They are a bunch of no mark thugs, nobody really cares if the police called them right wing (note: not far right or racist), that is not the issue here.

The issue for me is that both the mayor and the press are reporting on them as if CSF is some kind of legitimate organisation as opposed to a bunch of blokes that like to inflict violence on others.

The only reason anyone ever intimated that they may have been racist was their blatant use of the "All Lives Matter" slogan which is undeniably a racist slogan when used in response to BLM. I think you will find though, that anybody mentioning this would also have said that if they weren't racist, then they just didn't have the brains to realise they were being unintentionally so.

Can only echo what’s been said, that we shouldn’t be giving thugs a platform. They have absolutely no right to take the moral high ground in anything, given the damage they have caused to our club and city’s image over the years.

I don’t buy their story anyway. What exactly were they protecting the cenotaph from? Why would BLM protestors want to damage a war memorial? They just wanted an excuse to flex their muscles and hopefully get some agro.

Wrong. The Police put out their statement the previous week. It contained an untruth. An untruth that was repeated.

Tbf they do clearly state reasoning within the article.

They make it clear it was elements outside of BLM i.e. Antifa who could use the ruckus for their own agenda. Such as a Cenotaph. As well as the events in London where the Cenotaph was targeted.

Everyone has a platform in the internet age!

Having supported this club home and away right through from the late 60s until I emigrated, I can say un-equivocally there was a couple of times I was bloody happy that they were there. Self fulfilling prophecy maybe but there have been some real nasty attacks. FFS Millwall went as far as to drop concrete blocks on us and turned up on a Friday night looking for trouble not long ago

Yeah it is a bit of a shit article in a week where there is no football as I implied earlier. But there it is. There is still a group that call them selves The CSF but does anyone really care outside of a bored journo at the post!?

Has starting any violence been attributed to The CSF in recent years? I honestly don’t know!!
