Charlie BCFC
Personally I hope this whole thing is that PS and KD came in as assistants under Holden and Pearson coming in means he’s going to want his own assistant which I’m surprised he took so long to appoint. Remember something similar happened when McInnes came in with Wigley
Henry
It’s gone a bit quiet on Downing? Assumed he would have left on Monday.

Doherty tried to go back on that agreement. There was also some issues around the Irish players he signed and sectarianism? I know nothing about the last sentence. In fact if memory is correct he signed Irishman Tommy Casey in March 1959 and he lasted at City until 1963 so I would not think that he was a problem in that respect. Dermot Curtis, the Republic of Ireland centre forward had left before Doherty arrived. He brought in Gordon Hopkinson, born in Sheffield, to replace the aged Ginger Peacock at right back. Also Roger Collinson, born South Yorkshire, another right back. The other two signed were John McCann, born Glasgow but no indication on religion found and Malcolm Graham, born in South Yorkshire. I never heard during this time about any racist, religious problems with the dressing room. In fact the split dressing room only became public knowledge, as far as I know, a couple of years after Doherty left the Club.

I just have a memory of my dad telling me that he put out a disclaimer in the local press to say he was not a Catholic or involved with any local Irish organisations? As is often the case with these things it's a secondhand report from a period many years ago... mozo
Why is this happening now? If they were surplus to requirements, why didn't we get rid in the summer? Has something gone wrong behind the scenes? 1
2015
I will never know how we managed to have a coaching team of Holden/Downing/Simpson after a month without a Manager, when LJ left us in more than an adequate position for a proven manager to push us on. To me it will be a huge turning point in the History of this club over the next decade. A huge c*** up similar to the club choosing Pulis over Moyes. It has set this club back years 10 2

That's how I'm looking at it anyway
