OneTeamInBristol
The Dark/Deep web is most certainly real and as others have said worryingly easy to access and 'use'. When I was at Uni an associate (wouldn't say friend) was similarly intrigued to many on here, he decided to have a snoop around on there. To cut a long story short he ended up in front of the University Senate and the Police and was very nearly kicked out. So don't believe anyone when they say it is not monitored, it most certainly is! It's not a single thing, it merely refers to areas of the internet that you can't find on search engines and that are highly encrypted. If the police were involved, then your associate was doing something dodgy on the dark web, they wouldn't get involved for just accessing it.

The rest I gather is largely comprised of the sort of "trust no one, the shapeshifting lizards are out to get us" sites that would appeal to Open Mouth or whatever that git on here called himself. The fact that if they can download the software to access these sites so can governments (and of course, shapeshifting lizards), doesn't seem to have occurred to this community.

Thanks for explaining my story to me though

You are mistaken that the police got involved. Nobody "ends up in front of the police" for accessing the internet whether it's the normal or dark web. 3

Oh yeah, I completely agree the majority of the dark web is going to be illegal or crazy stuff. It's amusing that the conspiracy minded people using the dark web are probably accessing it via TOR, which has its origins in a US Navy project.

So you are claiming that people get put up in front of the police merely for looking at the dark web?

If someone got a visit from the police due to accessing the web, dark, deep or otherwise, then they were doing or accessing something illegal.
