MelksRed
This persistent strategy of waiting for the long throw from Kallas achieves: 1. Nothing (we are not a tall team and cannot take advantage of it). 2. Slows the game down 3. Gives the opposition time to reset; and 4. Exposes my Mum's worst brown towel on a number of occasions. Why do we persisr with this? For me it should stop. Thoughts? Edited November 20, 2021 by MelksRed
exAtyeoMax
I don’t know, I find it annoying. Just chuck the bloody ball in!
ExiledAjax
I hate it. Every time the guys on RobinsTV say its a big weapon. I don't think we've scored from one this season.
Gazred
It's useful to have the option but we use it too often and at the wrong moments sometimes.
Daniro
If we'd ever looked like scoring from it, OK, but as far as I've seen we always lose out to defenders out jumping us, so I don't see the point. Actually we seem to lose the ball from a lot of our throw ins. More work needed at the high performing place.

We scored from it against Reading away and haven’t stopped doing it since, despite it being consistently terrible 99% of the time. 3

So we did. About as effective as shooting from 35 yards then. 14 minutes ago, Gazred said: It's useful to have the option but we use it too often and at the wrong moments sometimes. Agreed. pl00peh91
The worst thing about it is that Pearson said that it wasn’t planned at Reading away and it was a bit of “player innovation” or whatever he said, and it’s stuck with us ever since despite it allegedly never being part of our plans tactically. 2

The challenge was we didn’t react quickly enough to it.

HappyClapper
Not a big fan of the long throws. But in fairness I thought they were better today.

Pretty sure we scored from a corner a few games ago, the corner won from one of these throws. Now of course that doesn't make the throw itself great, but it played it's own part in the goal. Calculus
Doesn't seem to be very effective, as well as dragging Kalas out of position - he should either be back in defence, or in their area being a threat. That said we could do so much better with throw ins - I have posted this but Klopp has employed a specialist throw in coach at Liverpool and he has produced some amazing results. On the positive side, I believe that the shop will be doing Kalas autographed bath towels for Christmas.
Harry
I’m all for starting a campaign to ban the towel. It annoys the **** out of me. I’ve gone as far as to time throw-ins where teams use a towel. On average, they take 30 seconds to restart the game. If a player took 30 seconds to throw a ball in without having arsed about with a towel, he’d likely get booked for time wasting. I actually despise the use of a towel and think it should be outlawed.

The Dolman Pragmatist
In his post-match interview, Mowbray mentioned the long throw as causing Blackburn real problems in the first half, necessitating changes to their defence in the second half. I'd go along with that but once Daniel Ayala came on its likely success rate was much reduced.

Pezo
I would like us to use it to fool opposition, make it look like a long throw to create space out wide and then go short, pull players out wide and then go long - doing the unexpected is the only way I can see that it has worked for us. And that's been once.

Oops
I think Chris Martin should be put on throws ins. it would save the anguish of him trying to control it.
