The Long Throw

This persistent strategy of waiting for the long throw from Kallas achieves:

1. Nothing (we are not a tall team and cannot take advantage of it).

2. Slows the game down

3. Gives the opposition time to reset; and

4. Exposes my Mum's worst brown towel on a number of occasions.

Why do we persisr with this? For me it should stop. Thoughts?

We scored from it against Reading away and haven’t stopped doing it since, despite it being consistently terrible 99% of the time.

So we did.

About as effective as shooting from 35 yards then.

It's useful to have the option but we use it too often and at the wrong moments sometimes.

Agreed.

So today we didn’t do it all of the time and actually the throws were far more accurate and caused problems.

The challenge was we didn’t react quickly enough to it.

Doesn't seem to be very effective, as well as dragging Kalas out of position - he should either be back in defence, or in their area being a threat.

That said we could do so much better with throw ins -  I have posted this but Klopp has employed a specialist throw in coach at Liverpool and he has produced some amazing results.

On the positive side, I believe that the shop will be doing Kalas autographed bath towels for Christmas.

I’m all for starting a campaign to ban the towel.
It annoys the **** out of me.
I’ve gone as far as to time throw-ins where teams use a towel. On average, they take 30 seconds to restart the game. If a player took 30 seconds to throw a ball in without having arsed about with a towel, he’d likely get booked for time wasting.
I actually despise the use of a towel and think it should be outlawed.

Not a hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy fan then Harr?

In his post-match interview, Mowbray mentioned the long throw as causing Blackburn real problems in the first half, necessitating changes to their defence in the second half.

I'd go along with that but once Daniel Ayala came on its likely success rate was much reduced.

We are hopeless at throw ins - more often than not seem to lose possession
