Lanterne Rouge
Cardiff v Coventry, Bradford v Harrogate, Newport v FGR & Northampton v Walsall already postponed Boxing Day postponements: Cardiff-Coventry among four EFL games off due to Covid-19 - BBC Sport And in other news 3rd & 4th round FA Cup replays have been scrapped No FA Cup third & fourth round replays - BBC Sport
pillred
Methinks the Premier league will get the winter break they have been angling for by default, I'm surprised most teams haven't got 14 fit players considering the sizes of some of the squads they have.

Well they decided not to postpone fixtures earlier, so they don't really seem to want a break. But I agree they might end up with one anyway.
Red Army 75
Everyone else is working through this pandemic . IMO so should footballers. If they have positive cases then yes obviously postpone it. If not crack on

Lanterne Rouge
Another three: Exeter v Swindon (as @Shaun Taylor noted above) Barnsley v Stoke And the big one which will really focus the minds of the EFL, R*vers v Sutton. Surely they will have to call an emergency meeting after that bombshell.
Waconda
Can't see many, if any games on for Boxing Day and we will be in Lock Down the day after. Would be my guess.

On the 5.00pm news some Prem Managers were moaning that they have to play if poss and over Christmas that's three games in just five or six days with only 14 players. But we keep being told today's players are much fitter than those of previous generations. Hmmm; 3 games in 4 days at Christmas and Easter. No subs before 1965 and then only 1.

shelts
It’s not great three games in five days but if the clubs want the television money then you must do the dance I’m afraid. Football over Christmas Is big money not just for clubs but for tv companies as well what with peak audiences

The demands are much higher now and the science has improved dramatically. Just because it was done in the past doesn't make it right. It can take upto 48 hours to recover after a competitive game, and upto 72 hours for performance markers to return to "peak" levels. That;s just muscular recovery, doesn't account for knocks and injuries Factor in that that's assuming perfect recovery protocol which isn't always the case. I was lucky enough to spend the day with an England footballer recently, he'd played the night before and I asked him about recovery. It was an 8pm kick off at home, he got back to his house about 2 hours after the end of the game, but then didn't get to sleep until about 5am because of the adrenaline etc from the game. He was up at 7am to do the school run, and then had the day with us fulfilling sponsorship dutires. That's going to seriously impair recovery Of course they are very much pampered compared to the game 50 years ago, but looking after players bodies has to be a good thing right?

There’s a thread on their forum discussing the possibilities of sharing with us , fgr and Chippenham just so they can get some home revenue. I think in a couple weeks we’ll be in the same position. I find it weird in these situations over the past year or so that the first step isn't to stop away fans travelling before going behind closed doors. Given the infection rates in London and that our next few games are an away game close to London and two London based teams at home, that surely can't be good for stopping the spread of the variant?
