Welsh football clubs always get a better deal than BBC Bristol

Recommended Posts

Swansea at home in the FA Cup live on BBC1 wales

Cardiff at home in the FA cup live on S4C

So if Bristol City had been drawn against the other lot would the leader of BBC in the west,

asked for the money to have the game shown exclusively  in the BBC  West area?

A bit of a history question here, when did our BBC allow regional local derby games to be shown on MOTD

The fact that no fans can attend might have had a bearing on the decision? Seems fair for the Welsh TV companies to show them under the circumstances.

Late 60's we had local MOTD, with Idwal Robling as commentator .

Have I missed something or are you saying a local derby is the same as 2 teams a hour apart, should the Welsh be in the fa cup is a whole different matter

They just get masses more funding than English regions, that’s how it works.

S4C gets loads of government money despite having some programmes that are watched by so few people that it is statistically nil.

Same reason Newport & Wrexham (!) games get far more coverage on the BBC than some Championship sides.

Wales gets given far more money than it contributes.

BBC Wales have been showing Cardiff/Swansea and sometimes Newport live in the FA Cup for some time - I live in Wales and it seems to have been ever thus.  I guess that it's because BBC Wales covers the whole nation/principality (delete as appropriate) and the rest of the BBC works on a regional basis.

Bloody annoying mind...

Fair comment but it was just strange that the OP chose this time to complain about it with no fans allowed. IIRC our game at Blades last season was free to watch on the BBC website.

Yeah, it's a weird one isn't it?  This season seems to be a bit of a patchwork of broadcasters for the FA Cup with the BBC having some, ITV others and possibly BT Sport as well.  @Never to the dark side, is this a new thing?
