Team for Luton (a)

What do we reckon then?

Atkinson and King out, James too (surely he won’t be risked)

Is Williams ready?  I don’t think he will risk him starting.

I think we will start with the eleven than ended on Saturday:

                        O’Leary

          Vyner | Kalas | Pring

Dasilva | Scott | Massengo | O’Dowda

                    Weimann (c)

               Martin | Semenyo

Subs: Bentley, Cundy, Williams, Palmer, Benarous, Wells, Conway

Only ones not picked, Bell and Simpson.

Not too many permutations available!

Think you may be right, only change could be Williams for Dasilva but as JD was brought on Saturday instead of JW then must be reasoning behind that with his recovery

I’d imagine that Williams would benefit from a gradual reintroduction to the first team by making a few cameo’s from the bench. He’ll almost certainly be there again tomorrow.

Nige has to be as careful as possible with Williams recovery given the number of breakdowns he’s suffered already.

Going to have to strengthen physically the midfield (Cardiff were woeful)

Could be a case for Team shape and strength trumps individual ability.

Maybe even a change in formation,, even though we have performed so much better in a 3-5-2.

He might gamble with Williams in there, depending on level of fitness, maybe try and get an hour.

Or put Vyner in there and go to a flat back 4 !

Or stick with what finished against Cardiff, this is assuming we didn't pick up any more injuries that we don't know about.

definitely looks "threadbare" however you cut it.

That midfield frightens me to death. Will get over ran far to easy

Understand your concern, though Scott played a very disciplined game in CM Saturday after King went off.

Personally, I'd rest Martin from starting so he is fresh again for the next game and play Palmer in the ACM role, with Weimann & Semenyo up top. Suspect though that @Davefevs line-up is what it will be.

                        MOL

            Vyner Kalas Pring

Scott   Williams   Massengo  COD

                    Weimann

             Martin       Semenyo

got abit of everything in that team. Luton are decent tho and we struggle there. 2-1 or 1-1.

Palmer!

Hilarious, he’ll only be on the bench tonight if we can’t find anyone else, yet still people suggest him starting, not a chance.

No way will Pearson rest Martin (nor should he) but Wells would be far more likely to start if he did.

You are probably right. Dasilva was let back on the bus and played well Saturday, so why not Palmer. My thinking just that Weimann won't offer much help to CM, so rather have him up front with Semenyo, when we are looking light in midfield. A fresh Martin did great Saturday, start expecting him to play 90 mins, Saturday, mid-week, then Saturday again and he will be back to looking like he is playing in lead boots.

It’s a tough one. Not the type of game/ground to be bringing in recovering players but equally, that midfield could be overpowered with ease. Would be surprised if we get a result to be honest.

Would start by packing the midfield tonight with one (Weimann) up top...

Otherwise I fear us being overrun.

I'm expecting Luton to line up similar to Cardiff, only they are a lot more competitive and in very good form.

Tough game and if either/both James and Williams are ready I'd like to see one or both in the team, even if only for 60 minutes or so. We are very weak without those two and King against a strong side like Luton.

A draw would be good but expecting a Luton win.

Hard to see many other options.
We’ll struggle to contain them unless Antoine outscores or outruns them.

We are threadbare with limited options, but the team that ended the Cardiff game deserves to start. I expect (or at least hope) to see Williams involved at some point tonight from the bench - his physicality is a big plus.

Seems sensible. Sorry if I've missed it as been too busy to follow much the last couple of weeks but what's the views on Max vs Bents in goal? Only watched the highlights of the last game, and the second goal we conceded is exactly what I think the difference is between the two... i.e. Bents saves it
